Watch This Awesome Short: 'Grand Theft Auto: Rise'

The trend of turning videogames into movies seems to be experiencing a resurgence of late with the 'Assassin's Creed,' 'Splinter Cell,' and 'Deus Ex: Human Revolution' films all very much in the works. Though there are no official plans to adapt the 'Grand Theft Auto' series into a movie, filmmaker Gevorg Karensky has put together this action-packed short film that affords us a glimpse of what a 'Grand Theft Auto' movie might look like. I have to say, I was a bit lost. The last 'Grand Theft Auto' game I played was 'San Andreas,' and this film, 'Grand Theft Auto: Rise' appears to be based more on 'GTA IV;' with the online mutli-player angle and the lead character called Niko Bellic. That said, I still found this to be a pretty exciting short and I dug the touches with the lower left compass. Take a look at the short below and let us know what you think.

It would've been better if they shot it like a movie instead of like the game itself.

If this was really a faithful GTA film. He would have messed up riding the motorcycle and doing that mission like 10 times, because driving a motorcycle at fast speed without losing control or falling off is ridiculously hard.

Dear Hollywood, please don't make a gta movie. Rockstar do a perfectly good job with gta we don't need a movie. I don't think r* would allow use of the IP for a movie anyway.

The only time I'd have faith in a video game adaption is if Edgar Wright is attached. Let's not forget Wreck It Ralph wasn't the only video game nolstagia movie

I don't think the style of that short would make for a good GTA movie, and I'm against the idea in principle. Though I think it's pretty cool if you look at it as a proof of concept video for a GTA XIV virtual reality game. We should have Tron-esque VR by 2030 right?
