Comment by Cody Smith on April 20, 2013 at 5:17am @ 4:20 am I was listening to this and it was so funny it made me register for a username so I can comment on how hilarious audio review was.
Comment by Cjisabamf on March 18, 2013 at 11:47pm At the beginning of the film I was gearing towards a High Rental, because based on where the story was and where I "thought" I saw it going my reaction was that there was really no need to see this in the theater. Then Ralph jumped into Hero's Duty and the rating skyrocketed to a Straight Matinee, and it stayed until the point where Venelope was getting teased by the racers and from that point on I was hooked and the movie wouldn't let go, now I have some problems with the film but they are only nit picks, I will say that there is two BIG reveals in the film, one you can see coming and one you can't. The reveal you don't see coming may cause a problem for you as a viewer and a critic if you don't go with, but my advice is to GO with it, because that payoff is well worth it, this was almost a Better Than Sex because of that final act but as it stands this film is A VERY, VERY HIGH FULL PRICE!!!!! That last reel had me on the edge of my seat enjoying the emotional rollercoster!!!
Comment by Caity on November 6, 2012 at 3:21pm P.P.S. You guys watch Powerpuff Girls? lol that's awesome.
Comment by Caity on November 6, 2012 at 3:18pm P.S. Maybe they're censoring some things because they're promoting the movie and they're allowed to give their honest opinions but not allowed to deface the name or be overly crude about the Disney brand (i.e. by calling it "Wreck That P*ssy" as Leon suggested..) for legal reasons?? I dunno, just talking out of my @$$ here, but it's just a guess... that's why A Very Potter Musical on youtube had to censor some things but could keep others... they didn't want to get into legal trouble for being overly crude about the Potter brand (i.e. they had to censor out Dumbledore implying that he'd give Snape a bj), but they could make a general parody of it.
Comment by Caity on November 6, 2012 at 3:01pm Best video game movie ever? So this or Scott Pilgrim?
Comment by Cambo on November 6, 2012 at 5:44am you guys have ratings such as "some ol bullshit", "fuck you!!!" and "Better than sex"yet you are censoring your reviews?
I understand that this is a family film but I believe that a content warning at the start of the review would suffice.
Comment by The Blind Fella on November 5, 2012 at 10:18am The reviews are censored now?
Comment by pyranova on November 5, 2012 at 8:42am You're right about one thing, this is the only good video game movie out there. Still waiting on a good video game adaptation movie though.
I find it ironic you over hyped Hotel Transylvania as a good story, interesting for both kids and adults when it was a movie completely made for kids. This one translated a lot better to adults, still a kids movie, but by comparison Hotel Transylvania has a far more shallow story.
The racing aspect only serves as external conflict and motivation. This is in no way a "racing movie" it just has racing in it. The racing is as big a part as the game jumping. It's there but it's not the focus.
Also your comparison of Roger Rabbit doesn't make sense. R.R. is about crossing over the real world with it's fictional one. This movie just has crossovers of franchises and it's own worlds. It's the video game version of Toy Story, which is far more a like to Roger Rabbit in that respect, but you still wouldn't consider Toy Story to be like Roger Rabbit.
Comment by Mr.Dandy on November 5, 2012 at 2:08am And is it just me, or have a lot of the Pixar/Disney films lately taken kind of a surprise left turn into a place that wasn't really featured in the trailers? Up ended up being about running away from dogs in the jungle. Brave ended up as Mother Bear.
Mayor McCheese was also a parody of the same guy (Ed Wynn) I'd say.
Comment by Mr.Dandy on November 5, 2012 at 2:05am I did end up loving this movie, though the crew is right about the movie dwelling unexpectedly in the racing game a bit too much. But that said, I did also become invested in that part of the story as well, Vannelope definitely grew on me. But Brian said exactly what I was thinking, I wanted more game jumping as well!
