I have no idea if this is the type of game for me.  Some games I like them to be cerebral with a lot of planning and strategy.  Other times I tend to go for the mindless shooting everything that moves type games.  I'll probably give this a whirl when it reaches my price range.

I was waiting for you guys to review this game despite that I've been playing it already. It is a great game and  challenging too. It's also fun to name soldiers after friends, so when they die, it hurts. They get a good laugh out of it though.

Great review keep em coming.

I'd give it a full price with the caveat that you really need to have at least a passing interest in turn based strategy games to get the most out of it.

Can't wait to play this game and great review! However, if I heard correctly in the review: "It's kind of a strange thing, and I wonder why no one has thought of it before? A cover based, turn based, strategy game." Really guys?! You never played or heard of Silent Storm or Valkyria Chronicles?! If you liked the gameplay in XCOM: Enemy Unknown I highly recommend you try Valkyria Chronicles for PS3, it also has the added bonus of being a great story as well if, according to the review, XCOM didn't have a "good" ending and you want more story with the gameplay of a "cover based, turn based, strategy game."

That whole 'game looks too cartoon-ish' argument is really a shame, because there's a lot of good stuff going on here but apparently people can't look past the visuals (which I'm sorry, if you're going to judge a game mostly by it's visual style rather than it's gameplay then you need to probably re-examine your critiquing method).

Personally I get really irritated when someone dismisses a game's art style based on the fact that it doesn't look like it was based on the 'Frostbite 2' engine or is some hyper realistic FPS (AKA Battlefield, COD, or whatever military FPS is on the market today).

All I'm saying is if you just look past it (if it's not your cup of tea in terms of visual design), and you'll find a damn entertaining game.

Holy hell. I had no idea this game was going to be a retail. I thought it was a downloadable title. That honestly is surprising to me.

@ Kevin,

It's cool dude. I see what you mean. And I certainly do agree, that if reviews became too preplanned then the show would probably loose some of its appeal. Plus, and I tend to forget that, these reviews are often Skype calls, and that can interfere with the conversations sometimes.

Just keep up the good work. You guys should easily have your own site with the ammount of stuff you keep making.

@Cabbage Monster, for some reason this game was more difficult than normal for me to review.  I think maybe because I just felt very *blah* about the thing.  I was expecting something different than what I ended up with.  Again, not to be a negative at all, it's a great game.  It's just I didn't catch fire and find enough interest to really be a motor mouth about it.  Sometimes when we review stuff together it's like a love or hate fest.  But this was one time where Jeff was way more into it than I was, and so he was better able to grasp the strengths.  Just one of those things.  I'll try not to say, "I dunno" anymore.  Keep in mind though, we try not to have pauses and gaps in conversation while someone sits and ponders.  So when I'm asked a question I'm not ready for, I can't sit there and think about it.  I have to pretty much answer right away.  So when Jeff turns the conversation over to me suddenly, as in this review, I have to think to myself, "What did Jeff already cover?  And what is missing?"  and that's tough to do when you have like five seconds to respond.  What we probably need is a break-down of how the conversation will flow and who is talking about what.  However that would likely be too cumbersome.  I could just throw out a penis joke, which is what the other hosts do.  Maybe I'll work on that.
