Comment by R_Reticence on October 5, 2012 at 12:48pm but then again, team ninja is the best studio ever, and they redeemed themselves with this one after ninja gaiden 3 and the new NG3 expansion for the wiiu. I wonder if NG3 is kinda stupid cause they were making this game at the same time
Comment by R_Reticence on October 5, 2012 at 12:45pm DOh jeff, Doa is a ripoff of Virtua fighter thats why they're there. Have u ever played Virtua Fighter? same button layout and everything... That said i think Doa is way better than VF.

Comment by A Camel with Two Thumbs on October 4, 2012 at 5:12pm I'M THAT DEADORALIVE GUY AYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
but yeah, I'm a huge DOA fan and lord knows I bought this game at full price (with store credit of course:) Since then, I can safely say that this is my 2nd favorite Dead or Alive game, It's way better than 3 and and miles above 4, but I still hold DOA 2 as the best this series ever got.
As far as major problems I have with the game, the counters are WAY too tight, I know they were tightened to make counters less noob friendly, but they could be loosened up just a bit. Also the difficulty of the harder modes is beyond ridiculous. true fighter, master, and legend, unless your psychic don't even bother with these modes, although you do need to beat legend mode (without using a continue) to unlock some of the saucier outfits in the game.
I also have to agree with P. Jeff and give major props to DOA 5 for at least trying to teach new players how to play. It could of done a better job but at least it made a decent effort, which is more than I can say for TTT2 (don't jump me Tekken fans, TTT2 is awesome but it's obtuse as fuck, especially for new people)
And the story, good lord the story, As much as I love DOA, the story simply sucks. At least in previous DOA's they didn't focus too much on it, but DOA 5 has cut scenes up the ass trying to tell what is really a simple plot, and you can't help but cringe through it all.
All in all, if your a DOA fan, you'll love this game. If your a fighting game fan and you've never really played a DOA game before, this is a good starting point. if you like your fighters super technical and impenetrable, this probably isn't the game for you. And if your disgusted by large virtual breasts, well, you've already made up your mind about this game.
