Over the last few years, Marvel has developed a tendency toward taking the interconnected world of their comics and bringing that to the screen. Since 'Iron Man,' the overlap of characters has placed all the properties into one cinematic universe. This of course allowed the path to be adeptly paved toward 'The Avengers,' but it's clear that this overlap will continue into Phase 2. It was recently announced that The Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) will be appearing in 'Captain America: Winter Soldier.' On top of that, directors Joe and Anthony Russo are currently auditioning a number of actresses for a prominent female role; one suspected to be the love interest for Cap himself. The list includes the likes of Emilia Clarke ('Game of Thrones'), Jessica Brown Findlay ('Downton Abbey'), Teresa Palmer ('Warm Bodies'), Imogen Poots ('Fright Night'), Alison Brie ('Community').
So essentially what this story boils down to is that the Russo's will be faithful in their adaptation of "The Winter Soldier" storyline. Given that the Winter Soldier himself was an instrument of the Russian government, and that he actually does at one point have a relationship with The Black Widow, her appearance in the film should not come as a giant surprise. As to the casting process, it's most likely they are trying to choose an actress to play Peggy Carter's niece Sharon, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. If that is the case, I would love role to go to either Emilia Clarke or Alison Brie. The gorgeous Daenerys Targaryenis one of my favorite characters on 'Game of Thrones' and, of course Alison Brie is hilarious on 'Community.' Ultimately, I think Brie may have the edge as Joe and Anthony Russo previously worked on 'Community.'
What do you guys think? Does it seem like the Russo's are sticking closely to canon? Which among the proposed actresses would you choose for Sharon Carter?

Comment by C.H. Gorog on October 4, 2012 at 4:15am Why do two Russians have to have a history just by proximity? It's something that bothered me that Leon brought up in the Iron Man 2 review. It would be an argument similar to "There are two black people in this film, therefore, they must know each other."

Comment by Clearsky38 on October 3, 2012 at 10:46pm I agree that it should be between Emilia Clarke or Alison Brie, they are the two most recognizable faces. but I think Emilia Clarke being British has the edge (accent). And Emilia has more time-in doing dramatic roles.
Comment by Julian Teamor on October 3, 2012 at 10:35pm I say they go with Theresa Palmer. She's like a hotter, feminine Kristen Stewart in the face.
Comment by Aaron Lee Lozano on October 3, 2012 at 8:08pm @Wodenson , Well if you look at the deleted scenes in "The Avengers", you see an amazing one showing how Cap is dealing with the world, and in the beginning of the scene you see him looking at files of people that he was with in "The First Avenger", an he pics up and all of the files say that they are deceased, until he picks her file up and it doesn't say deceased, it shows her phone number and address, and Cap looks at his phone and thinks about it. So she is not dead, but if she comes back it will be awkward.
