Sega cancelled Bayonetta 2 about 4 months ago. The only reason it's even being released is because Nintendo decided to buy the rights to publish it. It is also highly doubtful Bayonetta 2 will ever be released on other platforms since Nintendo is publishing it. All Nintendo published games have been Nintendo exclusives so far.

@ J Smiley - You have a choice to make, medical coverage or video games. Which side of the border will you choose?

In Australia we have Video Ezy and Blockbuster, though I'm not a renter. A decent option may be getting second hand off ebay and just resell once you're done.

Rogers Video is Canadian and Game Fly is only available in the US, sooooo how the fuck are us Canadians suppose to rent games?

Rogers Video is a big rental store in Canada

As a girl, I don't think the bridge between male and female game preferences is really so vast. I have a great variety of genres in my console and steam collection, but broadly, when looking at fan artists and fan writers for games, quite a lot of them females, RPGs (J and W), fighting games and survival horror are popular among my demographic. I believe it has a lot to do with character driven drama, which is why we see a lot of 'fangirl-ism', outpouring of love and rage over characters, in quantities scarier and bloodier than you'd find amidst the console wars.

Strictly looking at the console market, while girls do play FPS, I don't think it's popular with the demographic because the avatars are almost always male. Granted, most are set in war zones, where we aren't permitted to take part in front line action (as far as I know), so it's unlikely a girl would want to play out a fantasy they haven't built in their mind.

The same goes for sport titles, all guys, well, except for tennis. The great majority of sports are dominated by the male equivalent, so it's only natural the games will be. There's nothing wrong with that, but there's no incentive for a girl to want to join in. Perhaps it's time to make a derby game.

Of course I'm talking out of my ass, and I welcome anyone to tell me how wrong I am on this subject, these are just my observations. As a girl, I don't have a lot to complain about with the AAA offerings, for example, character options give me the ability to make a female character, there are more good female characters out there, we got the cooler Shepard, and developers are actively conscious of female gamers (just look at Gears of War 3, adding some chicks to the mix). What I would like to complain about is, while we do have good female characters, we're still lacking for female protagonists. Sure, we've had excellent ones like Lara Croft, Bayonetta and Nariko, and shitty ones like Lightning (allegedly, FFXIII was more a an ensemble) and Samus Aaran (I refer to her characterisation in Other M, other than that, she is definitely a great example of a strong female protagonist), but it's a struggle to think of titles where our sole protagonist is female. I shouldn't have to do that, and that's something that needs serious consideration.

@Brandon Zero That counts for a badass mom.

My Moms is almost in her sixties, and she fucking loves GTA, is a fan of Castlevania, and owns more consoles than I do.  Does that count as a hardcore older woman gamer?

Just a few facts about hockey in reference to the NHL13 game review: NHL 2K is the other Hockey game that at one point out-sold EA's hockey games. The Lockout is because owners want to cut back player revenue again. There are a few black hockey players. You could skate backwards in NHL12. Hockey is the most popular sport in Canada and while the US's love of the game might have faded off we stay strong. And finally the last lockout was in 2004/05 where we lost a whole season.

i used to play FFXI, Thief lvl 75 on Lakshmi server. There was no real way to solo in that game, you NEEDED to have parties and groups to get anything done.
