I just walked out of this and I come right down the middle with this one, while I think it's incredibly overrated by other critics, how it has a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes I have no idea, I still enjoyed it. It was a cute little movie that I had a good time with and as a 15 year old I somewhat understand the overly romanticized view of love of the 2 kids in it because I was there a year or 2 back, maybe not quite to the extreme they took it to, but I understood it. I would give it an enthusiastic matinee

I liked the film and its goals.

But I'll be honest: I'd beat the shit out that one asshole at the prom who keeps on saying "five-feet".

Im with Cyrus on this one, it is a full price film. I really enjoyed it and I can't wait for the next Wes Anderson film.

I was with it for the first hour then the third act fell apart for me.  I enjoyed it more than I didn't if I had to give a Siskel and Ebert thumbs up thumbs down.  I would give it thumbs up.  Spill rating would be a Matinee.  The third act was choppy and made no sense at times but I still enjoyed it.

Moonrise Kingdom was a deplorable film. It is going on my top 10 worst films I have seen so far, this year. It almost seems like people, especially critics, feel obligated to laud Wes Anderson films because it projects an image of them being "sophisticated", as if they have a higher artisic sensibility than "common" movie goers. To these people, all I can say is that you are entitled to your opinion, if you genuinely like his films. But I have a sneaking suspicion that many are just rate his films so highly so as to appear high minded. To those people, I implore you to be true to yourself, and stop polishing a turd.

None of the characters in Moonrise Kingdom were likable, including the two main kids. All the characters were so odd, and not in a way that was relatable or endearing. Its as if all the characters in this film were on some sort of depressant, almost to the point of being lobotomized. The cinematography is atrocious, with unnatural colors that made it look cheap. And to add insult to injury the plot just plodded along, almost aimlessly, to the point that it made me look at my watch every 10 minutes. Of course, Wes Anderson lovers will defend all these "eccentricities" under the guise of Anderson being "artistically unique". I am sorry, but I am just not buying into the cult of Anderson. Me defecating in my hand, and then calling it an abstract artistic expression is just nonsense, and that is precisely what Anderson does on screen.

I walked out of this film angry, because it wasted my time. I don't mind wasting my time, if a film can invoke genuine emotion from me - however briefly. But this film failed to do that. It left me as anesthetized as the characters seemed on screen. If I had to use the Spill crew's rating system I would give it their lowest rating - a "Fuck You!" If you want to see a small independent film with a better plot, characters with emotional depth and humor, and better camera work worthy of watching on the big screen, watch "Bernie","Safety Not Guaranteed" or "The Intouchables".

I am with Cyrus on this one guys. I thought the film was fantastic, very unique and artistic with great cinematography. It's not going to be for everyone but the world of Wes Anderson is a very complex and distinct one indeed. Why should he have to change the style of his work? Honestly if he makes another film that had the same type of feel that I got in this movie than I would be happy. Bottom line I adored this film, no apologies! ;)

I don't care what anyone says, I laughed my ass off... when Korey did that fake gunshot. As for this movie on the other hand, I haven't seen it yet and I'm kind of nervous about how I might feel about it when I eventually do watch it.
