If it's crap ... We'll tell you
A couple of weeks ago, the Kimberly Peirce remake of Brian De Palma's 'Carrie,' starring Chloe Moretz as the bullied telekinetic teen, confirmed that Julianne Moore would be playing Margaret White, Carrie's psycho-religious mother. It was also announced that Gabriella Wilde ('The Three Musketeers') would be portraying Sue Snell, the only person among Carrie's tormentors who regrets her actions prior to the big gymnasium fire reckoning. Now it looks as if Judy Greer ('The Descendants') has also won a spot on team Carrie. She is currently in negotiations to play Carrie's gym teacher. The remake is slated for a March 15th, 2013 release.
This is awesome news. Fans of the FX animated series 'Archer' will probably recognize Greer most easily when she speaks. She voices the insane secretary Cheryl Tunt on the show and is easily one of my favorite parts of that series. I like the idea of her in this role, though truth be told I hadn't given a lot of thought to its casting. Don't get me wrong, however, this is an important role in terms of the film's overarching story. It was Carrie's gym teacher in the original film who first became fed up with the treatment Carrie received at the hands of her peers, and it was she who banned the most popular girl from the prom; an act that ultimately bore disastrous consequences for everyone. Greer is an immensely talented actress and I can't wait to see what she does with this.
What do you guys think? Is Greer the right pick here? Any 'Archer' fans want to share their favorite Cheryl quote in the comments?
