Please talk about the horrible parents stories....there is one where the parents put their kid in a washer machine....and another where a mother getting robbed at knife point runs off and leaves her kid with the robber.

I'm probably gonna catch some flack, but your talk about younger ignorant kids in school reminded me of this...

One of my earliest (And, in retrospect most shameful) memories from elementary school was when I was about six or seven I remember asking a black kid in my grade what was wrong with his skin (I lived in a predominately white neighborhood). I wasn't trying to hurt his feelings, or be an asshole about it; I was legitimately curious. He gave me this kind of embarrassed look, and avoided me for the rest of the year. Thing was, I didn't even understand how insensitive that question was, because in my family, and many other white families in my area, race was never really talked about. Now, my parents were no racists; actually far from it; I think they were just afraid any talk about race at such a young age would somehow negatively affect our view of people who looked different from ourselves, and that's what I think ends up leading to the types of questions you guys addressed towards the beginning of the podcast: A lot of kids honestly don't know any better, and that's a reflection of (and this is in most cases, not all) misguided parenting, not animosity towards any given race. Now, that in no way excuses my past actions, but I think it's always important take a look at the other side of the coin in these types of discussions.
