Last month, in one of April's weirdest pieces of news, it was
 announced that
David Gordon Green ('The Sitter') would be writing and directing a remake of
Dario Argento's seminal horror film
'Suspiria.' The plot of the original film, which will be echoed in the remake, centered on a young ballerina named
Suzie who travels to Germany to study at a prestigious dance school. Turns out, there's something supernatural and sinister going on at this school and a number of frightening events transpire. Once the announcement was made, the big question that arose (other than a resounding "why?") was who would play Suzie? It now appears as if
Isabelle Fuhrman('Orphan') has landed that lead role. Fuhrman also appeared in
 Gary Ross' phenomenally successful
 'The Hunger Games.' The new
'Suspiria' will be produced by Crime Scene Pictures with production slated to begin in September.

Again, I have no idea why they're remaking
'Suspiria.' No, that's not quite accurate. I know why they're remaking 'Suspiria,' just not why they're letting David Gordon Green remake
'Suspiria.' The fact that he's never done a horror film before is troubling enough considering the legacy of the original film, but more off-putting is how lackluster his last few comedies were. You know, comedy, the genre in which he chiefly works. That being said, I actually like Isabelle Fuhrman.
'Orphan' may have been laughably bad, or at least I found it to be, but there is no denying her performance was chilling. She was also excellent as the particularly nasty tribute
Clove in
'The Hunger Games.' I think she'd be a great fit for Suzie, but I can't help but be fixated on the absurdity of Gordon Green sitting in the director's chair. That's just me, what do you guys think?

Are you interested at all in this remake? Do you like the idea of Fuhrman as Suzie?

Never saw the Orphan remake, but I didn't like her in Hunger Games, in fact she was the only performance I really didn't like. When she had Katniss pinned while they were fighting and she was doing her crazy "I'm going to kill you" speech I just kept rolling my eyes, it was just so over the top and took me out of the suspense of that scene.

I'm honestly not sure what could be significantly changed in Suspiria's formula to justify another version. It's such a simple story that relies almost entirely on style and atmosphere (which will almost surely be absent from this new one).

I stopped being excited for anything passed Prometheus. Once that comes out, I'm done being excited.

They should've got Brett Ratner to direct it.

Okay, "the Sitter" is scary, to be sure.  But NOT scary for the right scary reasons to warrant David Gordon Green messing about with anything once once touched by Argento.
