Sacha Baron Cohen & Kurt Russell Depart Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'

One of the best things about
Quentin Tarantino's films has always been his casts. He is routinely able to assemble a truckload of phenomenal talent and pull fantastic performances out of even the most unlikely of actors. It was originally looking as if
'Django Unchained,' his upcoming film about a freed slave/bounty hunter, would be one of his largest and most diverse casts to date. But then, one by one, his players began to depart.
Kevin Costner said adios before production even began and the most recent deserter was
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who had to leave due to scheduling conflicts. Now it appears both
Sacha Baron Cohen and
Kurt Russell have also ridden off into the sunset. Reports indicate that Cohen had to exit the film in order to promote his upcoming comedy
'The Dictator.' As to Russell, a rumor has surfaced, based on a very much unconfirmed IMDB message board source, that he was unhappy with his character.

Well, I guess QT will have to make do with merely a huge cast instead of a colossal cast. As much as I love the way Tarantino chooses actors and balances his characters neatly within the scripts, I'm ok with losing Sacha Baron Cohen. I know he was used well in 'Hugo,' and I have no doubt that Quentin could have similarly utilized him, but as I think about it now, it might be a bit distracting to have him appear in
'Django Unchained' in the same year
'The Dictator' is released. If there is a particularly vulgar or offensive gag in
'The Dictator' that we all talk about for a while afterwards, it may be hard to disassociate Cohen from that role. I am however sorry to see Russell leave. I loved
'Death Proof' and he was a huge part of why that movie worked so well for me. I'm not ready to buy into this mysterious "message board source" and its unsubstantiated claims of discontent, but whatever the reason for Russell's exit, it's a shame. It's too bad Tarantino now only has Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, James Remar, Don Johnson, and the RZA to fall back on. Oh wait, no, that's still a pretty sizable and unique cast.

What do you guys think? Are you disappointed that one or both of these actors has departed? Was the cast too crowded to begin with?

I hope english isn't you-know-who's first language. If I say who then he'll argue. He does that. But yeah, it never fails, comment after comment he just butchers the english language. I'm not trying to make fun of him, especially if it's a 2nd language. But if not...... goddamn someone needs to proof read. lol

Love Kurt Russell, but Death Proof (when he wasn't in it at least) was a fucking abortion.

Probably won't see this.

Hey Quentin (since I know you totally read Spill), call up your old buddy Harvey Keitel to replace Kurt Russell! They both fit the "man's man" image.

I just hope the movie being distasteful/offensive isn't a reason. I'm so looking forward to it.
