'Bullet To The Head' Delayed As Stallone Recuts
It's not terribly rare that a film's release date gets pushed back a week or two even as it draws near. What is a bit more unusual is when a film disappears from a studio's release schedule entirely within one month of its release date. Such however is the case with 'Bullet to the Head.' For those of you who don't know, 'Bullet to the Head' is a Walter Hill ('The Warriors')-directed action film starring Sylvester Stallone and Jason Momoa ('Conan') based on a French graphic novel by Alexis Nolent. Sources now indicate that the film won't be released until November. This major delay is purportedly due to the fact that Stallone has taken over editing duties from director Walter Hill and is putting together the final cut of the film. Hopefully it can still get released this year.
Seriously Stallone, what the hell are you doing? Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Sly fan. I mean, you could probably tell me he was shooting an 'Over the Top' sequel and I'd be on board. That being said, Walter Hill is one of my favorite directors and I can't believe I'm having to wait to see 'Bullet to the Head' just so Stallone can put together a director's cut...for a film he didn't even freaking direct! I think Stallone is a competent director and probably had some hand in editing the films he's helmed, but come on Sly. Do you really think you know better than the great Walter Hill? I know Hill's not perfect, he's made some bad films just like you have, but this is bordering on full blown megalomania and it's out of control. As I indicated, I really want to see this film, so a portion of the ire I'm lobbing in Stallone's direction is simply due to the fact that he is holding up the release, but then again I haven't seen the first cut, or any cut or any scene, of 'Bullet to the Head' so I suppose it's hard for me to say that it doesn't need a new edit. I will say however that it seems strange to me that Warner Brothers would accommodate Sly's whim, that could potentially torpedo the film, considering he's not even a producer or writer on the project.
What do you guys think? Is Stallone out of line here? Are you anxious to see 'Bullet to the Head?'

i wonder if this is a case like some movies in the past have been where after the studio heads saw the final product they shit canned the director and put someone else in charge of editing the movie, kind of like what happened with jim sheridan and dreamhouse where the studio had someone else come in and finish up the film because the studio didn't like where the movie was going.
although i don't really know the full details and it seems like the source doesn't outright say sly forced the movie to be held up, it could be the studio just wanted to cancel the project and maybe sly reasoned with them to let him do a re-edit to get it released. (just my thoughts could be way off basis)

I think Stallone is over the top, trying to grab something back that slipped away a long time ago. AS for the photo of him ripped and tattooed, what the hell is up with his navel???
