Jonathan AKA JodeneSparks posted a statusRichard Linklater has never been what you might call a conventional filmmaker. From 'Dazed and Confused' to 'Slacker' to 'A Scanner Darkly,' his films are always a bit hard to classify. So I guess we shouldn't be surprised that he's taking on a dark comedy based on the supposedly true story of a man who murdered an 81-year-old woman and then had to go to great lengths to convince people she was still alive. The film is called 'Bernie' (no, not as in 'Weekend at Bernie's' though I understand how that could be confusing given the plot synopsis) and stars Jack Black in the lead role. 'Bernie,' which co-stars Matthew McConaughey and Shirley MacLaine, was actually filmed right here in central Texas and Linklater held a charity screening of the film a few months ago to benefit the victims of the Texas wildfires. The first poster for the film has just been released and seems hellbent on convincing us that we should all keep a very safe distance from Jack Black. Take a look a the poster below and let us know what you think.

Comment by Mr. Regarde on February 25, 2012 at 8:58pm He looks almost EXACTLY like Robert DeNiro did in "The King of Comedy." The creepiness potential just skyrocketed for me.
Comment by Clocker910 on February 25, 2012 at 7:42pm you guys should do a caption contest for this poster
Comment by Logan Deckard on February 25, 2012 at 7:27pm As a huge fan of Richard Linklater (who as far as I'm concerned as a near perfect track record), I'm really happy to see him working with Jack Black again. I loved School of Rock and if this works, it could be one of my favs of the year.
Comment by cdun136 on February 25, 2012 at 5:17pm I have to say I still rock out to the original Tenacious D album from time to time....
