THE LEAGUE OF EXTREMELY ORDINARY GENTLEMEN: Walking Dead Mid-Season Squabble

THE LEAGUE OF EXTREMELY ORDINARY GENTLEMEN: Walking Dead Mid-Season Squabble

Oh boy do we get into it about our divisive opinions on AMC's show "The Walking Dead" at the half-season mark . But that's FAR from all we talk about this week, as there's lots of news to attack and the most segwayed (?) conversation the League has ever had. Check it...

I love the comics...I hate the series.

1rst half of the season was much too slow.  this storyline was even boring in the comics. They keep teasing the idea that the humans are really the ones who are dangerous. there was only 1 instance of this, not enough to keep me interested Leog, its just not enough.

Am I the only one slightly excited for a new Starship Troopers?
Maybe it is because I'm a huge Heinlein fan... or maybe I just want to see giant robots blowing the crap out of Skinnies. Either way, it could be worse.

Then again, maybe we got the best we could get from that CG animated series. Roughnecks I believe it was called.

I was one of the few people in my group of friends who was aware that the Walking Dead was based off the comic book, but I have still yet to read the book myself. I'd passed by it a lot at my local comic shop--gone back and forth on purchasing a copy--but I was hesitant to read it simply for the fact that I have seen a lot of zombie movies (only a select few of them being any good), and I was skeptical as to whether or not it would apply well to graphic novels. Which I guess is a moot point considering, as it was mentioned, it's primarily the writing and not the content theme.

And for the record, the plethora of topics that seem to pop up in this podcast, whether related to geekdom, nerd logic, personal interests, news or pop culture, I find all to be well worth a listen.

Just wanted to chime in and say I love the topics for the shows but I love the preambles just as much, if not more!

It was Otis' fault they had to go out there anyway, so I never really felt sorry for what happened to Otis. I would have probably done the same, but I think it would have been hard to come back. I would have eventually broke down and told the truth.

Herman Cain always says some pretty fucked up shit. First it's "your fault if you not rich", now, "you're worthless if you are fat." How do you think that makes Cyrus feel???

Comment by Herman Cain on December 14, 2011 at 1:27pm

Otis was pretty fat though. So all that good he did is cancelled out.

Let me point out how amazing Otis was as a character.
SPOILER ALERT (highlight to see text)

Sophia is lost, bitten and captured by Otis [the zombie-wrangler] in one day. Otis [the skilled hunter] goes out early the next day hunting and kills a deer (and shoots Carl). Otis [the EMT] then returns the same day and goes with Shane on a mission to get supplies, where he is heroic [the hero] in helping Shane and shooting zombies only to end up betrayed and killed. Later its revealed the Otis [the musician] was great on the guitar. A very unrealistically impressive character.

Since Sofia was in the barn and he knows everything that happens on his farm, especially with his barn, wouldn't that mean that Hershell knew that Sofia was in the barn the whole time and just didn't tell the rest of the group for whatever reason?
