The whole jason segal and walter story line was just usless, they were just a way to reintroduce the muppets. Even if they were a plot element, I still think that they could have done without them. Walter's "talent" at the end of the movie isn't all the interesting, and they don't really explain why does walter have a human brother. And i'm sure they are gonna elaborate on it like Kung Fu Panda in the planned sequel and its gonna be more focused on it and it will be like that "Gonzo is an alien" plot. I just wish the second one will be a full 2 hour muppets show with every muppet character having his or her own spotlight. Because the muppet telethon at the end was the best part of the movie for me and i was disapointed that there wasn't more. I have to say though, Hobo Joe (Zack Galifinakis) was hilarious in his role. And as they said, my favorite muppet, Swedish Chef, didn't get his montage moment which kinda made me mad. It would have been funny to see he had his own cooking show or somthin'. And again, i totally agree that they didn't really have all the characters do their thing. THE BIGGEST problem is that Pepe the Prawn and Rizzo the Rat is almost NOT in this movie.
And like i said, i think it would be fixed with a 2 hour full muppet show with maybe a slight backstory backstage.
But for the movie as of now, i give it a high rentel. The movie isn't all that great untill it picks up on the muppet show at the end. The "new" characters aren't that interesting and as they said the only guest they focused anything on is Jack Black. And i agree, i read the cameos and i didn't even realise that half of those people were in it.
Comment by AMRock63 on December 21, 2011 at 7:44pm This movie is a high matinee, low full price because of the nostalgia factor. Any time you see your hero you are transported back to your fondest memories with them. Often we don't harshly criticize them, instead welcome them back with open arms.
I saw The Muppets tonight and damned if I didn't laugh to myself as I heard cohost's voice inside my head saying "fuck Walter" during all of his soul-searching scenes. Great review!

Comment by ArkontheGreenVillage on November 25, 2011 at 4:26am I enjoyed this movie so much. Probably the most fun I had in the theatre this year. Not as good as Hugo, but it's still a fun time. Full Price:)

This was definitely a high full price for me. I'm all about the Muppets and this struck the right chords in almost every way. I actually thought they handled their cameos and musical numbers very well. In fact I might go see it again with my boyfriend who also enjoyed it. :-)
Comment by gripmonster on November 24, 2011 at 11:58pm This was a Better than Sex for me. I'm very surpriseed that none of you liked it all that much being huge muppet fans. None of your complaints bothered me at all. I laughed, cried and geeked out more during this movie than as long as I can remember.
