Okay bro, I wouldn't say I was "obsessed' (I certainly didn't force you to watch it!) but the original movie was a fun dance movie that was one of the better dancing films of its time (kind of similar to what "Saturday Night Fever" was for the '70s teenagers). And it did have a good mix of a soundtrack, from Kenny Loggins to Sammy Hagar. As for the new movie, no interest in seeing it whatsoever, there was no need to re-make the original. Would rather preserve memories of performances by Kevin Bacon, John Lithgow and Dianne Wiest that rocked.

wow
it actually wasnt terrible
the trailer had me very worried that they were gonna just make another cash n' grab
but they got the tone of the 1984 version right
certain scenes and lines were changed a bit
... some classic songs were kept in here while they added some new ones
I didnt mind the new cast members playing the roles; Dennis Quaid though was really miscast as the preacher, its tough to fill Lithgow's shoes
the new leads are unknowns but their acting still holds up to carry the film
Bacon and Singer I still prefer however
this remake got my foot tapping
its still awesome to go to the movies and have fun with rockin music and to learn the value of dancing

Disappointed with how little respect the original Footloose is given here; for what it was, it's about as good as it gets. Also, I've seen the original and during the trailer - the film's best foot forward - they were matching the same shots, same lines, and even cast actors that look like actors from the original. Based on that alone this remake - with nothing new to say - is the definitive Some Ole Bullshit.

Gender has nothing to do with it, the original footloose is a classic. I'm glad this remake isn't the total cash-in garbage I was assuming it would be, but anyone would definitely be better off renting the original instead.

From watching the first 10 seconds of the trailer

Obviously, it wasn't drunken driving that killed those kids but just dancing ;)

I've never seen the original either.
