Okay guys, I know you love to highlight what the women look like and do in all the movies you review, but I have to speak up (whether you take it to heart or not) that I cannot believe you spent close to THREE MINUTES highlighting your obvious ageism, spending too much time on making fun of Helen Mirren. Maybe saying one comment or two, fine, but this was ridiculous, especially when you compare the comments about her vs. the comments about Morgan Freeman. What a great role model to have an "old woman" play a kickass-and-take-no-names character! You continue to show your young audience that it's all about youth and beauty, youth and beauty. Too much testosterone on this podcast. The movie may suck, but I prefer the rest of the actual review than the tasteless jokes about one of the best actors (who happens to be female). Just some food for thought for you to chew on.

Back from seeing this, it could of been a lot worse.

I paid Matinee price. That seems to me what it was worth. I never read the books so I wasn't tainted by fanboyness. Fan boy needs to get the fact that when they make something like this it isn't for them. It's for everyone. I like the Idea of old school spies in the new world. The whole idea of they don't make em like they used to.

This is the Expendables 2. And they still did it wrong - no Chuck Norris in it.
I found this movie devoid of any exciting scene.
Just a big waste of time. If it wasn't for the surround sound (and all the explosions and shooting) I would have fallen asleep in the movie theater.
(I actually found the Expendables not that bad. Not that great either).

Hollywood is greedy nowadays, their afraid of the next top writer that's gonna ask for the $120 Mil contract. But the silent and used and abused writers just keep on takin it. Hollywood needs to start dippin into the highschools and even elementary schools for talent and true imaginations. Every perspective told in film is always from a 3rd party view; for example - Hollywood can't make a military movie without being micromanaged by the military.
I say take stories from the people on the internet and gather millions of ideas and even if needed copy and paste from here and there, the material of today is so recycled that they fail to see the potential elsewhere.

Everyone cannot write but it doesn't mean that their concepts/ideas are not good. Years and Years ago, people would've killed einstein for saying that he could help make bombs and even change the view science, this is hollywood of today minus the killing part. They refuse to even review the potential of the people. Today it's all corporate and no talent, let me sell you shit and call it ice cream.

Personally a good movie would actually be a movie based on the child projects that were secretly conducted during WWII to form the best assassins and operatives. Some even say that our special forces community is filled with former orphans now adult government assessts.

Or a movie about an evil five year old with the ability to control nature and has telekenesis, and his brother who is his twin brother he is the good one and is discovered to be God. Crazy story yet original and has potential, these are just concept's pulled out of my ass and no work put in. But with time, it can be a masterpiece.

After M.Night, some crazy stories can have potential but it's only a one shot deal.

Another bonus to this movie....for a PG-13 movie, it was surprising to see 3 people literally EXPLODE on screen (in a matter of 3 minutes...).

This is one of those rare times that i strongly disagree with Leon lol...i can definitely see his points and the others', but the only things that truly bothered me was most of the soundtrack (omg it was fuckin ANNOYING!!! some parts it actually sounded normal, but when the "tv-style" music came back, i wanted to punch my own face lol).
That, and how sometimes it felt like they just wanted to PROVE they were joking about something, like "hey heres the joke...there it is...did you get it?".
Other than that...for a movie like this (which really cant do too much with retired killers) it was definitely entertaining enough.
Most of it looked very crisp and clear, SOME decent directing (some), the chemistry was a huge plus (coulda used Morgan Freeman more, even if he doesnt seem to fit as much), but overall, ive seen MUCH worse this year.
I'd give it a Matinee, because i saw it at that time and didn't feel robbed at all.
(could have been adjusted with a better score, maybe better scenes rather than a few of them, but besides that, it is what it is...old people with guns, having fun.)
