If it's crap... We'll tell you

Source: Coming Soon

Coming Soon reports that author Frank Beddor, who wrote the The Looking Glass Wars series, is developing a film adaptation with Charles Roven.

The book series is a very different take on the Alice in Wonderland story that takes the "true stories" of Alyss Heart, the heir to the Wonderland throne, as she escapes during a coup by the evil Redd.

While appearing on ABC's "Good Morning America" to promote the final book in the series ArchEnemy, Beddor said: "I am working with the producer of The Dark Knight Chuck [sic] Roven, so we're putting it together, and it's pretty exciting to think about it as a movie. It's a really visual world so we'll see."

I liked the first book, but the second one left me flat...no need to make a film of this.

The Looking Glass Wars has a similar style to the recent 'Tin Man' series on Syfy. Basically it's a whole different visioning of the story that just uses the names and basic concepts of the original. The book itself isn't bad, definitely young adult fare....but as a movie? Sorry Ozma, I'm not so eager. The story would do better as a mini-series than a movie, because you have so many scenes worth showing which would get butchered or re-written in a feature film.

@Russel: actually, the "Alice" movie has been revived with the coming of the new game, and there has been some news released lately. It's on ign.com. I don't know any specifics, though.
