Martin and Baldwin Co-Hosting the Oscars

It was announced today that Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will serve as co-hosts of the 82nd Academy Awards.
Oscar producers Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman say, "We think the team of Steve and Alec are the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars. Steve will bring the experience of having hosted the show in the past and Alec will be a completely fresh personality for this event."
As for the new hosts, Martin said, "I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin," while Baldwin said, "I don't play the banjo but I'm thrilled to be hosting the Oscars – it's the opportunity of a lifetime."
Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2009 will be presented on Sunday, March 7th, 2010, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.

Steve Martin has done a good job hosting the oscars, but Alec Baldwin? I mean, he has a great comedic timing, when he's acting, but I don't know if he's gonna be able to pull it off. I don't why I have the feeling there's gonna be a lot of singing.

This does not bode well. It is another shameless attempt to plug a flick. They are both in a new movie coming out on Christmas (OK, I know the awards are well after that but the publicity now of them together at the Oscars is another calous attempt to get "free" publicity for that flick). And... WTF is this shit about ten nominies for "best Picture". Again, because the big studios can't make an Oscar worthy film (Cash cows does not equal quality) They are trying to push out the smaller films that seem to do very well at the Oscars the last few years.
Still I am an Oscar Junkie. I have been watching them faithfully for around 50 years now and I won't stop. It is something pure American and always way over the top.
