'Let Me In' Begins Production

Principal photography began today on Let Me In, writer/director Matt Reeves' adaptation of Let the Right One In, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

In the film, an alienated 12-year-old boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee) befriends a mysterious young newcomer (Chloe Moretz) in his small New Mexico town and discovers an unconventional path to adulthood.

The film is based on the bestselling vampire novel, Lat den Ratte Komma In, by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist and will pay respect to the original Swedish version, they intend to forge a unique identity for Let Me In, placing it firmly in an American context.

Updates to the cast list include Elias Koteas, Cara Buono and Sasha Barrese. It was previously announced that Oscar-nominee Richard Jenkins would play Abby's guardian.

Uh... New Mexicans aren't 'normal' Americans? Hahahaha. I think you meant to say 'average American.'

And yeah... I think most normal Americans know it snows in New Mexico... I'm pretty sure I could identify which states it does/doesn't snow... but maybe that's because I live down south?

The book is more clear but lets be honest most people went into the film without reading the book and some refuse to read it (since a movie is more accessible). I think thats what makes the film so appealing and grand to a movie goer because it doesn't come out and say this is this and this is that.

Eli is hundreds of years old but does have the mind of a youngster like Oscar and that alone makes for a pretty interesting conflict that has no choice but to come out as awkward and subtle. I think if you were to make a film where all the questions were answered that it'd kill it but that's just me I suppose.

my family is from Albuquerque they get more snow than where I am from in Oregon.

As for a "remake" it really isn't a remake. They have stated that it will take the same source material, the book, and make a movie based on that. It's like people making A Christmas Carol every f**king year. Not a remake.

However, since they are "Americanizing" this, I have lost some faith in the movie. And no, Scrivs, there is no way that they will address the Hakan is a pedophile thing. Maybe the boy/girl aspect.
