The sixth installment of the ultimate gearhead action franchise inches a little bit closer to the starting line today. 'Fast & Furious 6' will once again be directed by Justin Lin, and reunite practically the entire cast of 'Fast 5,' which in and of itself was a reunion of practically the entire franchise cast...oh, and The Rock. The series newbies climbing aboard here include 'The Immortals' Luke Evans'Haywire's Gina Carano and 'The Raid: Redemption's Joe Taslim. It has even been confirmed that Michelle Rodriguez, whose character supposedly perished in 'Fast and Furious,' will be returning. Now, Universal has released the official synopses for 'Fast & Furious 6.' Here's what we can expect...

"Since Dom (Vin Diesel) and Brian’s (Paul Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete. Meanwhile, Hobbs (Dwyane Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Luke Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again."

I'm going to throw this out there, and I apologize if it causes a few blown gaskets, but at this point, does the plot really matter? This series has survived well past where I think anyone initially expected, but haven't they all begun to run together at this point? Bad guy shows up, government agency wants to take him down, drivers are required to achieve said takedown, one or all of our team is recruited for the job. I'm not disparaging the plot for part six, it actually sounds fairly solid, but it also sounds like the biggest, boldest innovation they are employing is setting the movie in London. I mean, what's the tagline going to be? "'Fast & Furious 6:' Other Side of the World, Other Side of the Road." I guess the big revelation this time around is Michelle Rodriguez's resurrection, and that's fine. I just hope this doesn't end up being a carbon copy of, at the very least, the last two films; distinguished only by a few drifts around double-decker buses. I guess we'll find out May 24th.

What do you guys think? Are you excited for 'Fast & Furious 6?' Does this plot sound like it will distinguish itself from the previous films?

lol demonknight is calling exit-man a bitch when he's the one who's getting all dramatic over a silly movie.

Kiss that plot goodbye.. all we're asking for are some ass, roaring engines, pussy grease and engine oil. That's all! don't get creative.

Who gives a shit about the plot? Its like going to watch The Expendables, You know what to expect and what you are getting into, and yet you are still fine with it as far as they deliver the cool car chases and action.

Robert Wild is right that super bowl trailer is awesome, even if it is stupid as hell the action looks spectacular

Story is always important, if you can't accept the premiss for bringing the characters back you can't enjoy the movie on anything other than a superficial level, granted a movie like this (action/adventure) is rarely all that deep but it should always be appreciated that they made an effort when so many other movies don't. If they just said "here's a bunch of dudes racing" it would be the most bare bones concept in the world and would be considered a pointless, worthless movie with no purpose before the first shot was filmed.

Why do they have to become cops or work for them in every other movie? Brian was LAPD then FBI, is he going to be in Interpol in this one?

Just give me the races, and I'll be fine.  Still mad about F5 not showing the GT3 race. Maybe Death Race 4 can tie in. Ha
