Theredknite posted a status2013 will bring us a sequel to 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' and remakes of both 'Carrie' and 'Evil Dead.' The marketing for Fede Alvarez's 'Evil Dead' has been pretty brash so far; at times declaring itself "the most terrifying film you will ever experience." This latest red-band trailer seems bent on furthering that conviction. I'm still dubious, but I will admit there is some stunning imagery here and I like the callbacks to Raimi's film. My biggest problem is still the fact that the overly severe tone sold in the trailers for the remake seems at odds with the darkly comedic original. Take a look at the red-band trailer below and let us know what you think.

Comment by Jack O'mally on January 4, 2013 at 1:08pm I thin the gore distracts from the dark comedy that it's going with. The make up definitely makes her look creepy. I just hope this is not bad.
Comment by Pedro Miguel Antunes on January 4, 2013 at 1:08pm The original wasn't funny. Evil Dead 2 - pretty much a remake of the first one - was the one that started the comedy route.

Comment by hen-tie on January 4, 2013 at 1:05pm I don't think the original Evil Dead was darkly comedic. At the time it was totally played serious. We look back now and it seems kinda silly. I think this remake looks pretty great. It's probably the first time I'm looking forward to a horror remake so that must be something.
