New Poster For M. Night Shyamalan's 'After Earth'

As much as the concept for M. Night Shyamalan's new film 'After Earth' intrigues me, and it does, there is just no getting around the fact that it is indeed directed by M. Night Shyamalan. I like the idea of a father and son (in this case played by Will Smith and his real son Jaden) crash landing on a savage, dangerous future version of Earth, and that the son must then traverse the perilous planet to save his father's life. But again...Shyamalan. A new poster for the film has just been released. I like the design of the ship in the foreground, but the vegetation and waterfalls further back are sort of generic. It has been pointed out just how many posters for 2013 movies feature characters with their backs to the audience, and this is no exception. Take a look at the poster below and let us know what you think.

'After Earth' hits theaters June 7th, 2013

I truely hope Shyamalan comes back to it.

At least shamalan is smart enough not to put his name on his work anymore

Did we leave because your movies were fucking terrible, Shyamalan?  Who keeps giving this guy money to make movies, especially big ones with giant starts like Will Smith?  Is he Scientologist?  That would explain a lot.

there is already a hint of the "Shyamalanian twist" in the poster.

Lemme guess Shyammy: 1000 years ago we left because we polluted earth so bad that the nature fairies rose up against us a drove us into space?

I agree M. Night has had some below par films for the last few years but he only directed this movie, he didn't write nor produce it so I am not worried.

Fear plays a big role in this movie because the alien enemy humanity fights against have actually created a creature design only to kill humans and hunt them by using the pheromones excreted while scared. Then comes Will Smith who has mastered the art of quelling his fear so he can be invisible to the creatures called 'ghosting'. According to the movie website there are only about 7 humans who have achieved this goal. So I'm guessing this movie will be about his son trying to master his fear on the move to survive. I will be seeing this.

I kept pressing on as the movies got worse, but I couldn't even finish the "Happening" that was the tragic end of my promising relationship with Shyamalan.  Didn't even consider, "The Last Airbender"

From now on, not until AFTER I hear the movie is decent.

Of course there has to be a twist. It's literally written in the caption. Just look at that pic, I mean beautiful water fall and lush green forest isn't a reason to leave so a twist exists. Does that have to do with Will Smith's discussion of fear?

Now does it pay off? No one can say because M. Night does a good job of bottling up the surprise.

But so what one of the writer of the Walking Dead video game (pedestrian if you are used to Kirkman's writer, you can logically see every outcome) is THAT all you got?

Personally I am tired of Post Apocalyptic films...what didn't people learn from Resident Evil and Total Rekall? Is there any substance besides cool effects?

This movie is going to be crap. It's probably going to have the same twist ending as Battlestar Galactica, though I'm hoping it would be something stupider.

The poster is kinda cool though. Not something-I-want-on-my-wall cool, but cool.
