I'm pretty sure they were referring to the classic point and click formula. The whole story based relationship building craze in Japan is very much its own.
Comment by Safety3RD on December 14, 2012 at 4:11pm Great review guys, I'm really surprised Jeff & especially Jason felt real emotion for all the characters & choices you have to make in this game. But, I will say one thing, I'm surprised no one brought up how great Clementine is as a supporting character & child character. Most games (ie Heavy Rain) force you into a role as a parent & assume that all because the characters child is in danger we the player is supposed to care, especially after spending an hour with the little bastard. But the Walking Dead actually did it right giving her depth as a character to where you actually gave a shit about what happens to her, what she sees, & would go through any length of hardship to protect her. She was not just some simple tool used like in most games where it's just some weak random kid you need to protect who constantly gets into danger or the answer to some puzzle, but a real person who is a value to the group. Many times in the game I did not see her as just clementine, but as my daughter & would do anything not to see her cry. She was my morals reminding me & everyone else that in heart we are all good people on the inside, she is also quite frankly SMARTEST person in the group.
Comment by Safety3RD on December 14, 2012 at 4:10pm I would love to hear a spoiler cast on this game, with Kevin, Nick, & possibly old man Leon. The best thing about this game is sharing with friends the decisions & secrets of this game that they could have missed or done differently.
@ kwame digital
The choices in MASS EFFECT have a huge impact on what happens throughout the game, just not the three endings!
Comment by John Henry Eden v2.0 on December 14, 2012 at 3:26pm Sorry to play the otaku card, but interactive fiction and adventure games have only been dead in the West. Calling The Walking Dead a "revival" really only applies in that cultural context. Games like this account for way over half of PC gaming sales in Japan, and have done so for at least the past seven years.
Comment by kwame digital on December 14, 2012 at 11:38am Between the choices here and in Mass Effect i'm starting to think that rue choice in fiction especially in video games is just and illusion. Who knows maybe one person will inevitably get it right.
Comment by Slender Dan on December 14, 2012 at 2:50am Game was glitchy as shit.

Comment by pyranova on December 14, 2012 at 12:15am Will you guys do a spoiler review? Being that this is almost a strictly story based game, to give it a full review you have talk about the story. I'm really interested in how each of you played the game and what you thought of all the characters and events you were put through.
