First Poster For 'Star Trek Into Darkness'

At this point, I don't know how anyone could not be excited for J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek Into Darkness.' The plot sounds fantastic, the stellar cast from the last film is returning, and the villain is played by Benedict Cumberbatch. But in case none of that strikes your fancy, and I have no idea why it wouldn't, today the first poster for the film has been revealed via the movie's official Facebook page. Some have criticized the poster for being too derivative of 'The Dark Knight Rises,' but I really like it. I think it effectively communicates the peril facing the Enterprise crew and the stakes for which they are fighting. It also further enforces the idea that Gary Mitchell will be the villain; seemingly having caused all that destruction himself, possibly with the aid of telekinesis? Take a look at the poster below and let us know what you think.

'Star Trek Into Darkness' hits theaters May 17th, 2013

The poster would have been made by some marketing guys not the director so they may be trying to draw The Dark Knight Rises crowd!

poster looks good but the film itself should be at least as great as the first one

People need to hop off Nolan's dick anything that bears even a slight resemblance to his franchise and everybody says it's ripping off Dark Knight Rises.  Some men just need to shut the hell up.  And most sequels are supposed to be "darker" then the original that's how you make them better and not just rehash look at Kung Fu Panda 2, Spiderman 2, etc. then look at Spiderman 3 and Ironman 2. Shit I'd say this is more Derivative of Inception or Battle Los Angelos, but people only see Dark Knight Rises.

This is probably the most badass any Star Trek poster has ever looked...I love it.

So Benedict Cumberbatch is now Evil Superman?

Oh that looks nothing at all like The Dark Knight Rises poster. I 'm being sarcastic of course. Whoever the character standing in the middle is he's even wearing a long black coat that kinda looks like Batman's cape.

I'm really tired of all these "dark" movies lately. The first J.J. Abrams' Star Trek movie was a fun adventure. Why does this one have to be "dark" ?

i kinda like this poster, it gives you a good idea of how much destruction the villain can cause. and say what you will about it looking like TDKR poster, so what, it's a cool design to use
