Yeah North-Korea is really plausible threat  even tough  they can´t feed their own people.

So like...wasn't the point of the first Red Dawn to placate on the fears of the whole Soviet Union Cold War thing the Reagan years were about, and have the self-insert-fantasy kid characters kick some commie ass?

So like, are Koreans the new Commies for
us or something...? I thought the Muslims/Arabs were the new "Other" we Americans are supposed to be afraid of nowadays? And shouldn't they be another color but red, which was like the main color for "ERMEHGERD COMMUNISM"? Maybe like....Brown Dawn, or Orange Dawn...

Hell, why not just make it about random black/gay/women people who vote Democrat and go full retard pandering toward the right, who're terrified of Obama and "ERMEHGERD SOCIALISIM CUZ IT SOUNDS LIKE COMMUNISM"...least it kind of make sense in that regard...but Koreans? Really??

I usually don't dismiss remakes just for being remakes, but yeah...a modern day Red Dawn movie seems pretty fuckin stupid to me. Especially since we already have tons of crappy Military Fantasy video games to remind us how much more awesome we are than the scary Other.

Does the movie at all address the fact that NORAD, nuclear missile silos, and most defensive installations across the U.S. and the coast are shielded against EMP to prevent exactly this kind of attack? The President even has a special plane built to survive an EMP attack so he can remain in contact with armed forces during blackout and fly to safe houses. Sure, most military bases would take a hit, but those planes would still be scrap metal once they hit the coast even if they got past every other obstacle in international waters and missile bases across Europe.

I suppose probably not. :\

The first one made sense because of the tensions at the time and because Russians army is nothing to fuck with, but north korea really? People die of starvation in north Korea, the whole country has no power at night becasue the government wants to conserve it for the day time. Unless they first bomb america with a couple of nukes then invade they would get shot down and killed by the navy before they even got close to land.

Comment by BLU Year on November 21, 2012 at 7:13pm

NK doesn't possess the resources to mount a surprise invasion on the US. It's just not feasible.

Comment by PornoChris on November 21, 2012 at 7:09pm

actually it was both cubans and russians, the whole point of the 1st film was other countries decided to join forces to invade USA.
