Mads Mikkelsen In Talks For 'Thor 2' Villain
As the smoke from the Earth-shattering success of Joss Whedon's 'The Avengers' starts to clear, the focus returns to the followup Marvel sequels. 'Iron Man 3' recently began production in North Carolina and now it seems 'Thor 2' is starting to pick up steam as well. Months ago it was reported that Alan Taylor ('Game of Thrones') would be taking over as director and now it looks like Mads Mikkelsen ('Casino Royale') is in talks to play the film's villain, or at least one of the villains. The studio is being very hush hush about who specifically Mikkelsen may be playing, but with Tom Hiddleston's Loki apparently still having a major part in the sequel, it's quite possible that Mikkelsen will not be the principal baddie. 'Thor 2' will begin filming this summer with a proposed release date set for November 15th, 2013.
I'll be completely honest with you, apart from Loki and the Frost Giants, I have absolutely no concept of Thor's rogues gallery. I can make blind guesses as to who Mikkelsen might play, but it would be a regurgitation of names I read on Wiki or the Marvel Directory with no frame of reference for whether he would be a good fit for those various characters. That being said, Mikkelsen was an outstanding Bond villain and I think evil suits him quite well. He's got a sinister presence and can deliver verbal jabs at the hero with icy disdain. As much as I think Tom Hiddleston has done a dynamite job with Loki, we've had two Marvel movies now in which he's been the villain. Therefore I hope he isn't once again the chief antagonist in 'Thor 2.'

I hope he plays one of the many evil beings; Pluto, Seth, Sutur.....etc.....Any of them is pretty cool

This guy is possibly my all time favorite actor. He increases the quality of anything he's in. He was a perfect villain in Casino Royale and was the best part of King Arthur, Clash of the Titans and Three Musketeers. He won the Danish equivalent of an Oscar for his role in a movie called Pusher was also great in other non-English films such as Flame and Citron, Valhalla Rising and After the Wedding. I'm willing to bet he'll win an Oscar sometime soon down the road.
My chances of seeing Thor 2 just skyrocketed.

Man it is a shame that most of the good actors are coming from the UK even certain black, and spanish actors.
I think after battleship hollywood is going down hill.
Most of the movies that come out now should go str8 to dvd.
If your name is not Brad Bird, Joss Whedon, Danny Boyle,QT or the like your movie should go st8 to dvd.
I understand that is why we have people like spill and RT to tell us its a bad movie. But I want to see stronger verse strongest competition. Not stronger verses something i already know will fail. Besides, who wants to sit next to people talking during the movie because they now it is a bag of S.

Crusader could be an interesting choice, if the film goes back to Earth. Considering that everyone now KNOWS who Thor is, I can imagine a few religious types not being too happy about a 'pagan' god running amok.
