First a James Cameron story, and now Arnie's making news? Next thing you know, we'll be reporting on the latest patch for Skynet. Anyway, it seems Open Road has picked up the U.S. distribution rights to David Ayer's 'Ten' starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The action thriller centers on a DEA task force who raid a cartel safe house. This raid is actually a heist as the corrupt DEA team is simply stealing the drugs. In the wake of the heist, the team members begin to turn up dead one by one. Ayer wrote 'Training Day' and has directed 'Street Kings' with Keanu Reeves and 'Harsh Times' starring Christian Bale. Open Road is also releasing Ayer's cop drama 'End of Watch' starring Jake Gyllenhaal. No word yet as to when filming will begin on 'Ten.'
So it appears Arnold Schwarzenegger's return to action movies is in full on blitz mode. First he's given a bigger part in 'The Expendables 2,' then he signed on to re-team with Stallone again for 'The Tomb,' in which they'll both play inmates of an inescapable maximum security prison. He's also attached to star in 'Black Sands,' about a man who takes on the entire private army of a southwestern arms dealer, which will be directed by Scott Waugh and Mike McCoy of 'Act of Valor.' His comeback seems to be pretty legit. I'm a big fan of both 'Training Day' and 'Harsh Times' so I'm excited to see what Ayer's does with Schwarzenegger in a gritty action setting. The question that arises in this situation is, of course, how long can Arnie keep doing this at his age? Maybe he'll become more like Lee Marvin who played lower key, but still imposing action heroes practically until the day he died.
What do you guys think? Does 'Ten' sound like something you'd be interested in? Are you excited for Schwarzenegger's apparent comeback?

Comment by Waylander on May 7, 2012 at 7:58pm Iam a huge fan of arnie and glad he is back, I just hope he takes roles where the character is aware that he is old something like rambo 5 or rocky balboa.
