Mark Ruffalo Signed A Six-Movie Hulk Deal?

During an interview with Collider's 'Frosty' Weintraub, 'The Avengers' Mark Ruffalo was asked about being offered a multi-picture deal to keep playing Dr. Banner and his big green alter ego. There have been numerous claims that Ruffalo's Hulk steals the show in Joss Whedon's highly-anticipated superhero team-up, which opens this week. Well it looks like there will be plenty more RuffaHulk in our future as the actor let slip during the interview that he initially signed a six-movie deal. With 'The Avengers' in the books, that leaves him five more cinematic Hulk outings by our count. You can check out the interview below, the telling moment is at 1:25.

So there you have it, straight from The Hulk's mouth. Without giving anything away, I have to say I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment that Ruffalo's Hulk is one of the best parts of Joss Whedon's film. I am thrilled to see that he will be taking on the role again, but I wonder if we need that many films featuring Marvel's premier rage monster. I mean, presumably they are planning at least one 'Avengers' sequel, if the early box office is any indication they will definitely be doing a sequel, so we can scratch another off the total number of films, but are we really going to get four Hulk solo films? Even if they worked into his deal the forgone conclusion of two 'Avengers' sequels, three solo Hulk movies still seems excessive, especially given they'd realistically have to do them within, say, ten years before Ruffalo becomes too old to play the part. That's my two cents, now tell me what you think.

Outside of 'Avengers' sequels, how many solo Hulk movies would you like to see? Which of his stories could they tell?

The Incredible Hulk is difficult to do in movies. A perfect story arch is hard to reach. Live action Planet Hulk? In this day in age of making money at the box office, the Hulk is not universal & marketable as Iron Man. The best way to use the Hulk is to have him be a supporting role OR make cameo Hulk-Outs in other Marvel films.

I hope Mark Ruffalo can stick around for three Hulk movies unlike Edward Norton and Eric Bana.

I like him as a actor. I have to wait and see The Avengers before I really can comment on it. But, I am curious on the direction they will take the movies.

Wow, really? Here I was thinking Ruffalo would be one of the weaker elements in the film! I'm glad to hear otherwise, and I couldn't POSSIBLY be more excited to see the Avengers now!

I don't thing Ruffalo would be too old to play Banner in ten years. It's not like Banner's the one who's doing all the fighting and jumping around and shit.

@TheTerminizer-Since Planet Hulk was animated they're probably also going to have World War Hulk be animated. Though I'd appreciate if they didn't make World War Hulk nearly bloodless like Planet Hulk. I hate how Marvel animated movies are so afraid to show blood. People get smashed into mountains, knocked around by The Hulk, get hit by a car, and get stabbed repeatedly yet somehow only have a small trickle of blood coming from their nose.

@Spydah-If you actually read some Hulk comics you'd find that he's a very deep and interesting character. While I'd say 4 or 5 films would be pushing it I could see three Hulk movies being made and being made well.

Seems pretty obvious they aren't going to make 4 solo hulk films. Just have Banner or the Hulk show up in a host of other Marvel productions, that's the whole point of this continuity thing right?
