Victor Vinoda posted a statusAfter the intensely heated discussion that happened in this weeks 'Lockout' review (which you can hear right here), we understand that some people may be a little concerned about The Spill Crew. Well, don't worry your pretty little heads, Spillios - as professional critics there are bound to be times when we don't see eye-to-eye on something. However, we are first and foremost good friends that don't let a little tussle get us down. In that spirit, we humbly present some of our favorite fights in Spill history.
Who can forget the Statham-style smackdown in our review of 'The Mechanic'?
Or the now famous argument-inside-an-argument of our 'Inception' review?
Or the schoolyard throwdown during our 'Get Smart' review?
Or even better, the video review (with surprise alternate ending)?
Bonus: Spill member BlackBelt Jones gives us this musical remix of the 'Lockout' fight:
What we're getting at is these things happen. Now we want to hear from you - what was your favorite argument on Spill? The most memorable? The most intense? Or even better, post the video or audio below so we can all enjoy it along with you. Until the next fight, remember to keep your head down and come out swinging!

Comment by Mr. Robinson on April 16, 2012 at 1:42pm My favorite fights were during the Worst of 2009 when Korey, Cyrus, and Carlyle were dog piling on Leon about Paranormal Activity and when Korey and Carlyle fought over Sydney White.

Comment by Happy on April 16, 2012 at 12:54pm @Andrewtfman: Yeah, that's basically how I see it. It's a good film. It's fairly fun, and very well made. There are some elements of it that are interesting to talk about but the film itself generally just uses them as simple plot points and nothing else. It essentially says, "Perception is murky, and it shapes our reality. That's pretty neat, huh?" And, yes, sure it's neat, but what of it? Although the film uses the notion as a backdrop, it never really looks at the greater implications. Although profound conversations could result from it, the film itself doesn't really say anything profound on the subject.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't think we should give films credit based the fact that they inspired deeper thought through simply touching on an issue. I mean, Sucker Punch touches (poorly) on feminism and has inspired a lot of conversations about the true nature of feminism... but no one is going to go calling Sucker Punch "deep" because it didn't actually have any profound insights of it's own (and it's stance on the subject was... questionable). Neither does Inception really have anything profound to say. It may have an arguably interesting question or two within it, and it may touch on an interesting idea, but it doesn't really say anything about them. It's tough to argue for profundity when all that is offered is questions which are barely addressed, and never even attempted to be answered.
And yes, I did sort of just compare Inception to Sucker Punch. =D
Beyond that, I didn't even really find the narrative very challenging to follow. I don't see how people suggest that you need to be paying very close attention to follow the film. There's more than enough exposition to follow it with ease, and we frequently see cause followed immediately by effect. I thought some of the interactions between dream levels were "neat" but in no way did I find them complex. Unless by: "You need to pay attention," people mean: "You need to not be asleep."
Comment by Mouse on April 16, 2012 at 12:52pm I love how in "Lockout", Leon's reaction to the CoHost/Cyrus fight is to eat. LOL!
Comment by nkWhiteStar on April 16, 2012 at 12:19pm @Leon - In the same way as reviews I read and heard for Chronicle and Cabin in the Woods, I enjoy hearing thoughts from people who didn't quite like a film as much as i did. Your review for Inception gets included too, I find it very interesting to hear a movie discussed from a different perspective. I can go on enjoying the film, but understand some of the sticking point people may have with it. :)

Comment by Scott_PJ on April 16, 2012 at 12:02pm Indeed, Bellflower had a great fight between Cyrus and Co-Host (And even Leon, who stayed neutral but was really infuenced by the two arguing)
To me, the most intense argument was the LEOG talking about the new Captain America Trailer, with angry ol' Fungusmonkey. I can laugh at it now because of how ridiculous it got, but when I first heard it, made me depressed that one man could get so mad over a silly costume. And it lasted for like, 15 minutes as Peter said (No! There's a difference between a stamped mark and an etched mark!) Oh, that anger.
