Whoa don you really went off on Eriks...leave the poor girl alone I see where she is coming from....as a female we are more sensitive than you guys about this stuff EVEN if we do watch it as well.

However I liked your line of questioning in the review and actually thought you covered things other people may not have so kudos for that

To be honest I didn’t really prep Philosotaku for any of my questions as I wanted straightforward honest answers which he encouraged me to do. Hentai was quite a relevant topic to bring up actually and I really don’t know why you feel it came from left field since it really started out with our topic on fanservice. Besides that Philo confirmed himself that at his convention panels he gets asked about Hentai & Fanservice because as we all know sex is being heavily marketed in Anime, Manga & Visual Novels as it seems to help sell more material – weither some like it or not.

Now obviously I would expect you now to say fanservice and hentai are not the same thing which, yes is true but the lines are becoming more and more blurry.

We both spoke about how some titles are classified as hentai due to a few scene’s has actually hurt some quality titles from being exposed such as Kite and Mezzo Forte.

Now as for sex and sensitivity…I am really gonna have to call bullshit on your Americans / christianity approach because America is probably the most sexually uninhabited country in the world – with arguably the biggest sex industry on the planet in terms of pornography and the business of sex and also In American TV, Movies Music & literature sex is and has always been one of the driving forces of entertainment for decades for the masses of Americans.

A good example of sexual sensitivity in Hollywood would be the films like Shortbus & Bliss which are SURPRISINGLY not classified as pornography but use sexuality to focus on issues in many relationships.

Philosotaku spoke about how the physical act of sex is something he feels intimate about and how he feels hentai and porn belittles it to something non-whimsical and unimportant – this is his own personal opinion which he is entitled to.

However in his own recent ecchi is good video he even proclaims how exploring sexuality thru fanservice is not a bad thing and how it can also be used in a good way to complement a story….does that theory not also apply to sex and hentai….hmm

I personally don’t think people who watch porn or hentai are any less sexually sensitive or intimate than anyone else…in fact I think people who classify others as perverts or horny crazy people are just ignorant and repressed. I mean if people don’t like talking about it I am not one to push the subject but I do not shy away from it as I feel it’s just a natural part of human nature

Anyhow I don’t feel like a gave hentai any giant amount of time that I gave any other topic in my interview…..and I know you are not angry…but at the same time I am a little bit surprised you felt away about the subject as I will talk to Philosotaku the same way I have spoken to you about these things…in that respect he is not special and I will not give anyone special treatment in my discussions and that’s basically why I brought it up.

I'm not upset not at all it just felt kind of akward to bring that up, but i'm female so it would be natural for me to be a little unsettled by the subject popping out of no where.

Well I don’t know how long you've talked to him before the podcast so I wasn’t so sure how comfortable you guys were with each other. Also he mentioned that sex to him is a really intament subject. Also as being from the US were taught (not everyone) that sex in general is a private matter and talking about it is wrong on a lot of levels, since the US considers it self to be predominantly christian (its like 80% of the US is christian if I remember my statistic) which also makes even more people unease with sex.

Fantastic review.....this guy is really doing something good and creative for the Anime community..people should check this out!!!
