dead snow

What do you get when you mix Nazis and zombies together, well you get the Norwegian movie Dead Snow of course! Supposedly when this was played at Sundance people went crazy for it. It didn’t have the same affect on me. I’m not say that I didn’t like Dead Snow, I just think watching it once is enough for me. Obviously the movie does not take itself seriously. I guess you could call this another horror-comedy. It’s no Evil Dead 2 but it sure tries to be. Too hard it seems. In fact they even… Continue

'The Descent: Part 2' Review

When I first saw The Descent in theaters back in 2005, I loved the movie! Me and two of my friends had just gone to a horror convention and actually got a poster for the film. So after the convention we decided to just go and see a movie, a horror movie of course, and The Descent was playing. So we saw the movie and had a great time. Afterwords I told everyone I knew to go see it. And when it was released on DVD I…

Suspiria (1977), Inferno (1980), Mother of Tears (2008)

Suspiria the first of the three deals with The Mother of Sighs (hopelessness). The movie is about an American girl that enrolls in a dance academy in Germany. Strange noises are heard at night and soon students start to go missing. The dance academy however is the home of the Mother of Sighs and all the teachers there are really just part of her coven. Suspiria is considered… Continue

Philadelphia (1993)

Why in the world have I not seen this movie before?! Its been around for years, has a great cast and I've never watched it until now. Of course I have heard about it, but hearing is different then seeing it. The film centers on a lawyer who was fired from his job because he has AIDS and is now suing his old firm. Denzel Washington is his lawyer who helps to take on the super sensitive case. This movie was great,… Continue

All Dogs Go To Heaven (1989)

I saw this in the cheap dvd bin at the store and grabbed it up right away. When I saw it I had a flash back of childhood memories from watching it. Me and my brother had a copied VHS version of it when we were younger that we watched over and over again. I love this movie especially cause I grew up having German Shepherds for pets and the main character in the movie is a German… Continue

Dance of the Dead (2008)

I know what your thinking--"God, not another one of those zombie movies!" Yes, this is another darn zombie movie that went straight to dvd. But the only difference from this and those other rip-offs are that this was enjoyable. I didn't think I was going to like it at first. My friend from school had been telling me for along time that I had to see it. And finally last week…

Hostel (2006)

I know that some people actually liked this movie, but most of those people were probably guys. This movie was basically about 3 guys that are traveling Europe to try and have as much sex as they possibly can. But they end up getting involved with people who would rather pay money to kill and torture other people. This movie was your typical gore fest, so believably real looking and other times unreal.( the whole… Continue

Rambo: First Blood Part 2 (1985)

So after watching the First Blood I popped in Part Two right away. Now this movie starts off some time after the first movie, which I am always like. And basically Rambo is sent on a mission to find missing POWs. You can tell that the studio really just wanted to milk as much as the could off the first one and Stallone himself and make as many movies with Rambo. The thing is that the storyline in this film was a bit… Continue

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985)

Freddy's Revenge is your usual standard follow up to any successful horror film. Only problem is that the sequels usually never live up to the originals. But the thing about the Nightmare on Elm Street series is that none of the movies are really that great. Even the original has it's own problems. I've personally enjoyed all the sequels except for parts 6 & 7. Freddy's Revenge is basically Krueger causing havoc… Continue

The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009)

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like forever since I've seen Robin Wright Penn in anything. Just a few weeks ago I got to see her latest film 'The Private Lives of Pippa Lee', which she is the main lead. The film was written and directed by Rebecca Miller who is the daughter of play writer Arthur Miller and wife of Daniel Day Lewis. 'Pippa Lee' was originally a book written by Miller herself that…

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994), Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls (1995)

I really enjoy this movie, it's classic Jim Carrey right before he became hugely popular. I kind of had to think about that, their was a time when Jim Carrey wasn't popular. And I was around for that! But luckily I was young enough to enjoy his many earlier funnier films, starting it all off with Ace Ventura. If their is one role that Carrey will be forever remembered I think it would be as this character or The… Continue

Whiteout (2009)

This review may be a little late but I feel like I need to get my feelings out on the movie ‘Whiteout’. What the hell man! I felt like I was in the theater for about 45min and then it was all over! Maybe that’s actually a good thing with this movie? I was on the fence about the film after I had gotten out of the theater but now that I’ve given it two weeks I just don’t get it. I should have know that it wasn’t going… Continue

Jennifer's Body (2009)

Am I seriously the only one that actually liked Jennifer’s Body? I know that it had its flaws especially in the story alone, but I don’t see why most people are writing this movie off altogether. I for one found it to be entertaining and loved the… Continue

My Bloody Valentine (1981)

Just this year I saw the remake of My Bloody Valentine 3D, but I had never seen the original 1981 version. My Bloody Valentine was/is your typical 80's slasher movie; trying to ride the coat tails at that time of 'Halloween' and 'Friday the 13th'. (both of which have gotten remakes as well) Before hearing about the 3D remake I had personally never heard of this movie before. I've seen a…

Funny People (2009)

It seems like a summer movie tradition that there is always an Adam Sandler movie that comes out. This year Sandler's tradition continues with the Judd Apatow movie 'Funny People'. There's just two problems: one Sandler's movies haven't been good for years & two they should have changed the title cause funny this movie is not. In fact I barley made a chuckle during this film. I was a bit disappointed, knowing… Continue

Orphan (2009)

Maybe someone should show this movie to Brad & Angelina, this movie just might stop then from ever adopting again. But all kidding aside I originally had no intentions of going to see this movie. They had already made a movie like this back in the 90's with Mcauley Culkin called 'The Good Son'. Why do I want to see a horror/thriller movie in the middle of the summer blockbuster season? Well I don't! (except for… Continue

The Informers (2009)

I just watched this movie called 'The Informers', and I really don't know what the whole point of the entire film was? It's a big assembly piece that contains a bunch of widely known actors (Mickey Rourke, Kim Basinger, Winona Ryder, Billy Bob Thorton, & Brad Renfro) and some unknown actors. Unfortunately they give most of the screen time to the unknown actors who really can't act. And less time to the actual… Continue

Land of the Lost (2009)

Someone needs to have a sit down with Will Ferrell and tell him straight up not to do anymore tv movie remakes. You would have figured he had learned his lesson when he did that horrible Bewitched movie. Although the new Land of the Lost movie isn’t horrible it’s still not all that great. Now the original television series aired in the mid-70’s on Saturday mornings. I’ve… Continue

Terminator Salvation (2009)

When I first heard that a fourth Terminator movie was going to be done I have to admit I wasn’t all that thrilled. The third one left a bad taste in my mouth, and I’m sure in a lot of others as well. I wasn’t thrilled with McG being the director; I haven’t really liked any of his work so far that would convince me that he was the man for the job. The only glimmer of hope that I saw out of this entire project… Continue
