I'm not sure why I'm writing this and I don't believe and somewhat hope nobody reads this, but I've been looking reading the comments on several posts today and noticing that I don't seem to agree with almost anyone on this website. Everything I'm hearing about Tim Burton's new movie is making me more and more excited than I could have expected. Now we get character pics and set concept art and the film is looking absolutely gorgeous.

When that unofficial pic of Johnny got out a while back I was skeptical, but n…

I just found this picture in my dad's year book from Halloween, 1977. I thought it was pretty good, considering. Weird to think the guy under there hadn't seen Empire Strikes Back yet. Also, what the hell did he use for that light saber?

The platforms make the costume, truly.

In 1968, Gene Roddenberry said he was planning to make a prequel to his beloved television series, Star Trek. Alas, he was never to make this film before he died in 1991, and thus the backstory for the characters he and his fans loved dear were lost forever. In 2005, however, it was decided that they would try to fulfill the creator's idea.
Before today, I had never seen anything Star Trek related. I mean, I've seen clips from episodes and movies, but I've never seen a full episode of any of th…

So I go downstairs this morning and my mom's at the computer. She calls me over and says "Have you seen this?" For the next minute or so I'm watching a trailer for a movie called Adam, a romantic comedy about a guy with Asperger Syndrome.
First of all, I have Asperger Syndrome, so I'm a little curious if they will do this movie right. The thing is, not only was I currently writing a screenplay about an Aspie based on my own struggles, but my freaking name is Adam. So not only did they steal my…

I have to watch The Notebook for a school project, so I thought I'd comment on it as I watch.
Well this opening is rather generic. I'll admit I've never seen it in red before, but they could have at least been a little more original about it...
So an old man is reading to an obviously senile old woman a story that conveniently takes place around the time they would have been the age of the characters. I couldn't possibly guess that their relevance to the plot will be.
Wow, if I were this girl…

Being on spring break, I'm not reviewing a DVD this week because I'm lazy. Instead, I thought I'd write a piece on the five most disappointing films I have ever seen.
5: Lady in the Water

The Sixth Sense was a great film. Unbreakable was even better. Signs had some big p…

Here’s another rather obscure gem for you, but seeing as it has yet to be released on DVD, I can only review the film. But what film am I reviewing? None other than the phenomenally popular classic Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure.

The movie starts off introducing us to the characters, a group of children’s toys who have to hold their position when people come in, as they ar…

I was recently informed of a little British gem from the early 80s called Xtro. I decided I had to check it out, so I NetFlix'd it, watched it, and now here I am to give a review.

First off, I have to say that this movie is not good. It has countless problems, in production, in story, and…

So I was really bored, and I thought that was reason enough to write a blog about as many movies coming out this year as I can think of, and throw in my ever controversial thoughts on them:
Watchmen - Having read the book within a 9 hour period about a week ago, then watching several clips from the film, I am very
very scared about this film. From what I've seen, it looks like Zack Snyder completely ignored the feel of the story in favor of slow-motion action sequences, which in m…

Well, it's over. I'm not going to spend too much time talking about this, I just thought I'd comment on some things:
First of all, I thought the show was really great tonight. The new layout was fun and exciting, and they didn't spend too much time bullshit other than when they gave out acting Oscars. The set was really awesome and Hugh Jackman was a terrific host. They really made the show classy again.
That being said, I'd just like to comment on Bill Maher's completely unnecessary bash on r…

I recently read a story about how people in Hollywood are scared that the Oscars don't mean much to people anymore. Many A-list stars are turning down chances to present Oscars, or not even showing up at all. They feel that people just don't care about who wins anymore. So I have a suggestion for you, Hollywood:
MAKE US CARE!
The Oscars are entirely created, voted on, and presented by the Hollywood elite, and they're complaining that we don't like their little award ceremony. Well, I've come u…

I've been rather bored lately and should probably have spent this time on homework, but I took a list of virtually every movie ever made (incidentally, I've been adding some things to Wikipedia lately) and narrowed it down to the movies that I had seen. From that, I narrowed the list down to my favorite 50 films ever made, as well as my
least favorite 5o films, which is what I bring you today. REMEMBER, this is a list of my FAVORITE films, not what I consider the BEST films ever made. Wit…

Is no holiday sacred? We’ve had Christmas horror, April Fool’s Day horror, St. Patrick’s Day horror, we’ve even had Presidents Day horror and Father’s Day horror. And now we have Valentine’s Day Horror.
BUT WAIT, this isn’t the first time we’ve had Valentine’s Day horror because this movie is actually a remake.
If you haven’t guessed by now, I’m talking about My Bloody Valentine, or to rightfully detach it from the original, My Bloody Valentine
3D. It’s your typical slasher…

As one more form of procrastinating instead of doing my homework, I have decided to finally put together a Top Ten list, since I've never actually done one before. So without further ado:
10: Mrs. Miniver
Most of you have probably never heard of this film, and I can't blame you. It's a great but forgotten film about a woman and her family living in England during World War II. It kind of gets preachy near the end, but it's a really good movie, and Greer Garson was great in the lead. This movie…

Best Picture
My Choice: Frost/Nixon
My Guess: Slumdog Millionaire
I think I'm starting to warm up to Slumdog Millionaire lately, but I still don't think it was the best film this year. Frost/Nixon just had everything together while Slumdog had too many problems (like how I could tell how the movie was going to end 15 minutes in) for me to really appreciate it. Even so, I won't be disappointed when it wins Best Picture. I'm praying Milk doesn't jump up here as if to say "Sorry about Broke…

Alright, so we got 'em today. The nominees for the 81st Academy Awards. I'd like to go through each category and give my thoughts:
Best Picture:
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Frost/Nixon
Milk
The Reader
Slumdog Millionaire
The Dark Knight, Revolutionary Road, The Wrestler, WALL·E, none of these are present. I was really thinking with such an exciting year we would have an exciting Best Picture category, but all we got was...this. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see Benjamin Button…

I remember back in the year 1997, it was right after Christmas. I was 9 years old and seeing a movie with my sister. The movie: Mouse Hunt. If you haven't seen it, it's a really bad film starring Nathan Lane and Lee Evans trying to kill a mouse. I don't remember liking it very much, but still not feeling as if it wasn't worth seeing (though having seen it since, yes, it was not worth the money). Anyway, my parents were in another theater at the time and told us to just come over after our film w…
