I just got out of an early screening of the film
The Fourth Kind, an alien abduction film "based on real case studies" by a psychiatrist in Nome, Alaska in 2000.
Mila Jovovich plays Dr. Abigail Tyler, a psychiatrist taking over her husband's work after his death. When many of her patients explain they've been stalked at night by an owl watching from outside their windows, she becomes more and more intrigued and conce…

I've seen some great musical acts in my 21 years - living legends like B.B. King and Santana as well as some smaller but no less talented acts like Joe Bonamassa, but I'm not sure I've ever had so much fun at a concert as I had last night at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin when I was given the opportunity to see Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer live, performing songs from
This is Spinal Tap,
Waiting for Guffman, and
A Mighty Win…

In all my years, I don't think I've ever gone to see a horror film on the big screen. I usually like to watch them in a dark room with a few friends instead of hearing annoying kids who shouldn't get into the theater scream when a random cat jumps out of nowhere. However, being a Sam Raimi/
Evil Dead fan, I HAD to see
Drag Me to Hell in the theater, and I HAD to see it opening night. So, unable to get all my friends together, as most were "too tired" or "busy" I went w…

Every weekend of every summer, people line up at their local cinema to see the newest release, forking over 8 bucks for a mind-numbing 2 hour experience to escape the troubles of everyday life. As many of you know, it wasn’t always like this. Summer was not always the designated season for the big budget
high concept film. Credit to starting this tradition is given to
Jaws in 1975. Now, I’m sure we’re all well aware of the fac…

So this weekend (Apr. 2-5) was the Wisconsin Film Festival in Madison, Wisconsin, and, as a movie fan and student of UW, I felt like I had to go. Because of my lack of currency, however, I only went to see two films;
JCVD (audio review later) and
Sita Sings the Blues.

I am a sucker for anything Eastwood. To me Clint is the coolest motherf*cker on the planet, and I'd gladly pay full price to see anything and everything that man puts on film. If he made a big screen adaptation of
Two Girls, One Cup I'd gladly see it in the theater. That said, there wass obviously some bias going in to see
Gran Torino. It was the movie I was most anticipating in 2008 and it came to our local cinema on Friday. Needless to say, I dug the hell out of it. This is easil…

Every year Hollywood tries to release happy, loving, feel-good Christmas films. These are not those films. So, if you’re not looking for your run of the mill Christmas movie, here are my picks for my favorite not-so-Christmasy Christmas movies.
*Please note that they are not in any order*

The teaser trailer for Roland Emmerich's 2012 has just it.
The film stars John Cusack, Amanda Peet, and Danny Glover, to name a few, and centers around the survivors of the end of the world in the year 2012.
The Trailer doesn't show anything, really. But you can view it
here.

So I FINALLY saw this film the other night, and I was very excited. I had not heard a single person say anything negative about it. I’m not huge into comics, and I know more about DC than Marvel, but knew enough about Iron Man before hand to know who was who, what his origin was, etc; the basics. As the DVD was inserted and the movie began, I grinned with joy, expecting to see one of the best superhero films ever (Let’s face it, that’s not very hard to do).
As the film progressed, however, my s…

Hollywood can't get enough of the remakes. And it looks as though Steven Spielberg has his eye on the Korean film,Oldboy. His star? No, not Shia LeBeouf this time. Will Smith.
In case you're unfamiliar, Oldboy follows a man who is imprisoned for 15 years for some unknown reason. When released he vows to have his revenge.
In my opinion it's on of the greatest revenge films ever made.

After posting my last blog “What Happened to the Man’s Man?” most of the responses were “What about _____?” This led me to believe many of you didn’t read the whole thing and went straight to the lists at the bottom, missing the point. So here it is; the Cap’n’s list of the 13 manliest, coolest, most awesome man’s men of all time.
13) Chuck Norris

In recent years, I’ve noticed that Hollywood’s leading men have gotten, on average, less cool. They’ve become less macho, less masculine, less manly. And, it seems as though the man’s man is a dying breed in film.
Now, the man’s man, isn’t quite what it sounds like. He is NOT gay. (Please note, I have nothing against those who are. However, the man’s man is simply straight as can be.)
The man’s man is the embodiment of masculinity. He’s not pretty, he’s not out to get the girl (she just happen…
