I work at an American History museum, and Revolutionary history is probably my favorite era, with all of the complexity of decidedly controversial American issues, including the dichotomy of equality for some vs. equality for all, race, gender, symbolism, wealth disparity, and national narrative. you know what?  this movie works on almost every level.  it was able to stand out as a period piece, an action flick, a part of a mythos and series, and as a generally good movie.  i was really impressed by the execution here, everything from the tongue-in-cheek self mockery, to the serious references to what "America" is as an ideal, was done with craft and subtlety.
