Splinter review

Hey horror fans, are you tired of vampires, zombies and werewolves? If so, then “Splinter" is the perfect creature feature for you. So what exactly is the creature? Well the title of the movie says it all because it’s nothing more then a collection of grotesque splinters (of course) that get under your skin both literally and figuratively. The film features a comically mismatched couple: Seth is a nerdy biolog… Continue

The ten worst things Michael Bay has ever done

On my last blog I said I wouldn't bash Lucas because he's done great things for the film industry. What has Micheal Bay ever done? He's blown shit up, made careers out of useless eye candy, and reversed the civil rights struggle a few decades. The only people that like Michael Bay movies look like this...… Continue

Family Guy season premiere review

"The Road to the Multiverse" I hate it when the Family Guy is so random. Here, it actually fits into the story. Stewie has a device that allows him and Brian to travel to different dimensions. I wont spoil the actual dimensions they travel to, because each one is clever and funny and they lead to hilarious moments… Continue

"Crank: High Voltage" the dvd review of the worst movie of 2009

A man sits in a psychiatrists office. He explains to his shrink his fear of death; while working as a paramedic a man held a gun to his face and he’s been afraid to die ever since. The psychiatrist makes some sexual advances at him and finally convinces him that there is nothing to be a afraid of. He gets up and proclaims his new love of live; and that’s when a bullet tears through the room and penetrates his head, splatterin… Continue

"World's Greatest Dad" review

What has happened to Daryl Sabala? You may remember him from the “Spy Kids” films where he played the smart, charming little spy Juni Cortez. He is now seventeen years old and co-stars in “World’s Greatest Dad” playing the role of Kyle Clayton, a perverted, foul mouthed little creep who’s favorite pastime is choking himself while masturbating. What a nice kid. There is no glamor in a playing a character like this; it is… Continue

M-Gizzle's top ten: The worst things George Lucas has ever done.

Hello folks. Let me mention a few things before we begin: nuking the fridge will not be on this list. If you knew the reference that scene makes you would not hate it so much. Second, I don't hate the prequels; they're not good or terrible but they are passable and that means they could have been better. I list a few reasons why. Third, Lucas has done a lot of great things for the movie industry so this will not… Continue

Rob Zombie remaking "The Blob"? Sounds wonderful!

I do not like Rob Zombie’s films, but in spite of that I am looking forward to his next film. Why exactly? It will be remake of the classic 50’s B horror movie “The Blob”. Why is that a good thing? Because it’s different, drastically different from his last four serial killer movies which were all about serial murders, running around and slaughter… Continue

My thoughts about "Inglorious Basterds"

Only a few people can get away with something as audacious as “Inglorious Basterds” and Quentin Tarantino proves that he is certainly one them. It’s bold and audacious because Quentin Tarantino uses real history like a prop which he manipulates to make his own style of adrenaline filled entertainment. This is his seventh feature film that he has written and directed after a few crime movies, a terrible car chase… Continue

The Worst Movies of 2009...so far

10. Drag Me To Hell It’s a horror comedy that sure as hell isn’t funny or scary but it is one thing: disgusting. Thanks for heavily recommending this Spill crew… 9. Push A boring movie about boring people that have super powers; and that does… Continue

"I Fight Piranhas" review

The short film “I Fight Piranhas” is kind of hard to criticize. It was made by a nobody like me with a budget that was less than my last pay check. The fact that the writer director Luke Veinot even made this film to begin with is impressive. He was also the photographer, editor, costume and art director as well. I he was the caterer as well I wouldn’t be surprised. I have no idea what the film is about; my guess it that it’s about a series of friends. They engage in well written dialog and exc… Continue

"The Thin Man" book review

What attracted me to “The Thin Man” was the description of the main characters on the back of the book; a critic said that Nick and Norah Charles were two of the most interesting characters ever written. I found them no more interesting than any other married couple a person could meet while hanging around in a bar. They float around every bar in 1930’s New York and drink every kind of cocktail imaginable while exch… Continue

The Collector Review

“The Collector” is a terrifying experience from start to finish. It is a slasher movie in a haunted house, but the catch is that the entire house has been rigged with booby traps and it becomes just as deadly as the killer. When something as simple as walking up the stairs becomes deadly the possibilities for terror and suspense are endless and this movie takes it about as far as it can go. The plot involves a burgla… Continue

The two Bens have been FIRED from "At The Movies"!

THE BENS ARE GONE!!! (Original article by Lewis Lazare Chicago Sun-Times Media & Marketing Columnist) As of September 5th, “At The Movies” will have two new hosts: New York Times critic A.O Scott, and Chicago Tribune critic Michael Phillips. If you care to go back a few years, you will remember these two as the critics that temporarily replaced Rodger Ebert from time to time.… Continue

G.I Joe: Rise Of Cobra

Much like the “Transformers" films -also from Hasbro- “G.I Joe rise of Cobra” is based on a cartoon series that is based on a line of action figures. You would assume that the live action film would evolve from it’s cartoon predecessor. Well after watching the movie you realize that the director Stephen Sommer’s does not think the movie should evolve. “G.I: Joe Rise Of Cobra” is still a cartoon in terms of style, pacing, and tone. The action is relentless with CGI that belongs on your old Plays… Continue

Transformers

After debating with myself for two years I have finally come to the conclusion that “Transformers” is a bad movie. When it was first released in July of 2007 I fell in love with it. However not everyone shared my affection for the film. The movie was viewed as poorly written, stupid and slightly offensive. I didn’t see those problems at the time and that can be attributed to two reasons: The sequel “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen” didn’t exist and neither did and my inner critic. Now that I… Continue

2 Days In The Valley

Hundreds, if not thousands, of American films take place in Los Angeles, but few of them show the Sanfernando Valley in great detail. The Valley, as it’s called, is the back yard of Hollywood where all the normal live and work. There are few movie stars in the Valley, but plenty of people who wish to be movie stars along with people who used to be a movie stars; both parties are there because they‘re not movie stars. “2 Days In The Valley” takes numerous Valley residents and throws them into a p… Continue

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time Re-Shelled" game review

Earlier today a friend called and told me that “Turtles In Time” was released on the Xbox 360 arcade. He said I should download it immediately. I wondered why I should download a port of game that I already own on the Super Nintendo. I downloaded it and, to my shock and dismay, it was not the arcade or Super Nintendo version; it was a total remake. It doesn’t look like the original, sound like it, or play like it. The only thing Ubisoft took from the original was the title; every thing else was… Continue

Queued up! My adventures with Netflix

Adventure 1: Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. There’s a touching scene early in this film where Nick (Michael Cera) and Norah (Kat Dennings) have just met and kissed for the first time. They sit in Nicks car and exchange glances that tell us love has just blossomed. This happens 15 minutes into the film and I felt that it should have just ended right there. I‘m not saying this is a terrible movie, but it’s a waste of time. You go into any romantic comedy expecting the leading man and woma… Continue

[Rec] DVD review

After “The Blair Witch Project“ and “Cloverfield” comes [Rec]”, another horrifying experience in the “fly on the wall” style of photography, and one the best zombie movies I’ve ever seen. A late night reporter and her camera man interview the local fire squad during a boring and uneventful night. When a distress call is made the reporter follows the fire fighters into an apartment building where an old woman is reported to be trapped inside. They get to the apartment and find the old woman scr… Continue
