Like many of you reading this entry have probably seen or heard, the Chipettes are making their big screen debut in the sequel… I’m sorry, squeakquell of Alvin and the Chipmunks. And if you are anything like me, you probably died a little inside when you heard them covering “Single Ladies” at the end of the trailer. But the fact that they are being re-introduced into this current incarnatio… Continue
So I was fortunate enough to get a copy of the literal “black sheep” of Disney Animation Studio Song of the South. I got my copy from a friend of mine whose roommate stumbled upon a bit torrent containing every Disney movie made prior to 1975.
Now my friend and I have one thing in common which most people would find odd. We share a love for racial humor. We know whe… Continue
One of the first things my managers do is check the answer machine in their office. They do this to get any important messages from movie studios, corporate, and even employees who call out sick. Yesterday, we got a five-minute message from a guest complaining about another guest in her screening of Precious.
A five-minute long message!! And what was the complaint? It was about another guest bringing in a three-year-old to the movie.
Now, I know the person this guest was complaining abo… Continue
With a title like that, how could you not read this blog entry? Right? Right?!
One of my Disney message boards linked me to an article where concept art from an old project in Dubai has surfaced. (Article link here) Basically, in lat… Continue
For a few weeks now, both Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California have been advertising The Princess and the Frog in the theme parks with character meet-and-greets, merchandise, and the ever popular live show or parade.
For those that cannot wait for the soundtrack’s official shelf release on Nov. 23, here’s two videos from two different performances of Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee from Disneyland.

With all this talk about Black Friday on the news and how Wal-Mart is going to try to prevent its yearly death knell (good luck, I say), a co-worker of mine was asking me the other day about Black Friday at the movies. I gave him the basic rundown on what usually happens. It’s not as bad as you would think. The day after Christmas, however, is a different story.
Then, out of nowhere, he aske… Continue
Well, it's award season again. At least for a select number of movie theatre locations out there. And as such, I thought I'd let you in on a little bit of behind-the-scenes magic on how the Golden Globes and Oscars are voted on the local level. Whether or not this information has any kind of effect on the actual results the night of those award shows is beyond my knowledge, but I'm sure you guys will find this information interesting.
During awards season, what do you guys do at the theat… Continue
Remember back during Fantastic Fest how Co-Host was talking about those Real-D TVs that will be coming to the consumer market soon? Tokyo, the land where we get the majority of our technology from, has developed a prototype that is definately one step above the rest.
So while the applications in this prototype is for still images, the potential is still there for a whole lot of other media. Video games that don't require a split screen for multi-player party games; movies and… Continue
You have to give Summit Entertainment some credit here, because they may have come up with something brilliant.
I discovered today at work that there will be what is being called a “Flashback Screening” of the first Twilight film before the New Moon midnight premiere. The instructions from the studio is as follows:
The original film will be shown once and only once on the day before New Moon is released. The film must be played in the same theatre house as the midnight pre… Continue

If you didn’t think Disney could go dark, well, you were half right. The concept art phase of the Epic Mickey video game has passed, and the project is now into production. As such, to help build hype for the Wii-exclusive game, production art has been released. If you have a subscription to GameInformer, you’ve already seen… Continue

I love my theatre. I really do. I may complain about working there, but I love my theatre for several more reasons. Topping that list for the longest time was the fact that the families that came to the theatre were responsible parents with well-behaved children. Not once did I have any of the horror stories I kept hearing about where kids would be acting crazy and wouldn’t shut up throughout the entire movie. And I was truly grateful for that, because it meant I could watch a family movie with… Continue

CNN posted an article asking a question that was brought up on last night’s Larry King Live: Should the hamburger be banned in America?
The reason? It’s not obesity. It’s because of E. coli.
Apparently, you can catch this deadly bug through improper meat preparation. (More specific information on the problem is in the article.) There are only two ways to get rid of it: irradiate it (which a… Continue
So this one guy comes in to watch the first show of Capitalism. Pretty normal stuff. Several hours later, he comes out follows by one of our more competent ushers. He then walks over to the manager on duty and begins talking. I eye the usher over to ask him what was going on, but I guess the question was in my glance. He immediately told me what happened.
Apparently, this guy thought that he could get away with theatre hopping because of what was said in Michael Moore’s film about… Continue
Hey guys! Look what Disney just released! A 3-minute preview of The Princess and the Frog!
So here's the basic set up. Tiana is in her best friend's room (look at the pictures on the dresser in the background) while a banquet is going on downstairs. She's doesn't really believe in fairy tales, but she's so close to realizing her dream of owning her own bistro that she's pretty much willing to give anything a shot, including wishing upon a star for some help.
And now, the scene.… Continue

You would think that being an art school kid I would be able to relate to this film more, but I just couldn’t. I mean, why not? It’s about a performing arts school that features four concentrations I’m familiar with in one sense or another. Acting, singing, dancing, film making and producing. It’s set in modern times to give this new generation something to relate to that fan… Continue
Customers that make me angry at work are rare, but this one I just now got over because, holy crap, I don’t care how old this woman is, but there’s no reason, no reason at all, for her to behave this way.
First off, business has been slow. Nobody is going to the movie, and when they do, it is during our weekend (Friday and Saturday). As a result, we are running on minimum staff during the weekdays. If not less, as was the case yesterday.
So here’s the set up. We closed the Box Of… Continue

I feel weird reviewing a Japanese Blu-ray, but I feel the need to do so with this one. I also feel weird about reviewing what is essentially a concert on DVD with little to no extra content outside of a few piece of bonus material that hasn’t made its way to YouTube yet. Then again, I just feel weird about reviewing a program that you don’t have to watch to appreciate.
I am, of course,… Continue
Oh boy, do I have a bad case of moronic behavior for you today.
First, the set up. It isn’t uncommon for us to have a kid’s birthday party during the opening weekend of a family movie. We had one for Up as well as one for Shorts. Today? We had two for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
The problem? Only one of the parents confirmed back with us that they are going to have it at our theatre. The other parent, who wanted their party to happen at the same time as the one that… Continue
Wanna hear audio commentary of some of our favorites or worse favorite films of all time, from a bunch of hacks, ugh...I mean Nerds? Then check out the group before the site is up!

Ugh, and people tought Green Lantern: Rebirth was too soon.
I mean, really, DC Comics is like a prepubescent kid trying not to masturbate for a whole week, only to fail on the third day.
