To briefly explain, these are not what I consider the “best” films of the year. This is my list of films that I call my favorite. I do think several of these films are among the best of the year, but the list is incredibly biased. That said, here are my 10 favorite films of 2011.

With THE RING and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, Gore has taken two existing properties and churned out two films that surpassed the original material-yes, THE RING was better than RINGU regardless what you fanboys/fangirls say. With RANGO, he adds a third to his books. It's a retelling of the classic VALIANT LITTLE TAILOR (or SEVEN IN ONE BLOW) but it's still one of the most original films to come out in years.

Netflix is the best thing to happen for home entertainment since HBO. The video store was great but the convenience of Netflix trumps it hands down. Having DVD’s mailed out to people’s houses was a great idea that put them ahead of the game and is even putting some video chains out of business, even Blockbuster is struggling to keep up.
