21 & OVER (e-Review)

(No shoes, no shirt and they still got service)

The first minute set the bar high. Sadly, it’s very predictable, unoriginal and too sober. There is a tampon joke that’s so disgusting to the point that I hated it. The acting is good. The writing…

Moneyball Review

Brad Pitt sure has come a long way since his breakthrough role in Thelma & Louise! He's had to overcome the prejudices set against him and prove his real worth as an actor just because he was the "prettiest boy" in town and by doing so, he's managed to solidify himself as one of Hollywood's most iconic film actors in its history. While he's captured the eyes and hearts of women worldwide with his roles in Interview with the Vampire, Legends of the Fall,…

ATTACK THE BLOCK review

The next great alien invasion is occurring, and who is there to stop them? A bunch of South London teenagers armed with fireworks and blunt instruments. This is ATTACK THE BLOCK, the best British horror-comedy since SHAUN OF THE DEAD.

As said above, the basic premise is meteors contain aliens that…

Overrated Movie Theater: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World...

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is an explosive triumph of style and substance. An ensemble cast that gives almost every character a point to shine and near close to every actor a chance to show their acting chops. I mean this is the first film that gives us an honest-to-god energetic Michael Cera, which is a feat within itself. However, the film had portions that kept me from giving it a "Better Than Sex" rating. You may think I'm talking about the supposed 'slow' beginning. It…

Scott Pilgrim vs. the Alternate Ending

MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD

While many on Spill were disappointed by the box office returns of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, we had all hoped the film would have a legacy on Blu-ray and DVD. Well it seems our crystal balls were right as Scott Pilgrim jumped to the #1 position of Amazon the day it was released, hopefully the trend continues. But on the DVD, I found a strange discovery in the extras: an alternate ending.

Now I'm fully well…

The Real Reason for the Scott Pilgrim Box Office Fail

So the hate and wonder is still on as to why Scott Pilgrim didn't do so hot in the box office last weekend. To be honest, I was really not surprised. I somehow had a feeling Scott Pilgrim was going to be a stronger movie than The Expendables, but I still knew that its returns were going to be poor for one simple reason: NO ONE KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

What compelled me to write this post were comments in ACOCO and elsewhere claiming that "American audiences are too dumb to…

MIKE JM REVIEWS: SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

For the last couple of summers, I've usually gone to a movie every week. And usually it'd be something good. Sometimes something great. For the summer of 2010, I haven't seen half of the usual number. And few of them wowed me. Some were just okay at best (MacGruber), some good but not quite memorable (Get Him to the Greek, Predators), but I've seen some that were very good, but not quite to my expectations. Not going to say which ones, because… Continue

A Crhistmas Carol: A good holiday season option

A Christmas Carol is the latest version of the already known story written by Charles Dickens. It is an spectacular feast for the viewer because it is its 3D format. The special effects are awesome. The story is good but I think that with the intention of focusing in the 3D and the CGI the left the plot a little sloppy. The rhythm is a little slow and it has some pointless scenes that it will not matter if they wen't in the movie. The cast is excellent. It includes voices of great actors such… Continue

Terminator Salvation, What I Would've Liked to Have Seen

Photobucket

SUMMARY

It is the year 2018 and John Connor is leading a small battalion of resistance fighters against Skynet. John Connor is searching for his future father, Kyle Reese, before the terminators get to him first and, ahem, terminate him. A character named Marcus mysteriously appears and only remembers the fact that he was on death row (One of his first lines, 'Ah, so that's what death tastes like' will indicate how Hollywood this movie will be), and for no reason…

My List of the Top 10 Film Directors of All time ...

Here it is, a list of my top 10 film directors of all time. Although I can safely say that this list will fly under the radar of all you Spillers out there, I'm going to make it anyway.....

10) George A. Romero

Phoenix Wright 5?

That's right. Phoenix Wright 4 (Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney) isn't even released stateside yet and details of the 5th installment in the franchise have already emerged. Apparently it's been announced for while (Capcom was eager to announce it since Apollo Justice did so well in Japan) and I don't know how I missed it.

Still, almost nothing is known at this point.

But at the very least it exists.
