I what could have been the best & most depressing April fools joke of all time, last April 1st ThinkGeek.com posted up a fake product that was the Tauntaun Sleeping bag. The attention to detail in the product photo had half the internet believe for a minute that this was no joke and the greatest Star Wars product alive had finally been made. Unfo…

*Remember, these are my opinions on the movie, not reality changing facts. Although these movies probably do have positives about them, I will not be addressing them, this is about their overlooked flaws. SPOILERS!!!*

You cannot be a sci-fi geek without seeing the original
Star Wars trilogy. The second film in the entry,
The Empire Strikes Back, is perhaps the darkest ch…

There are a lot of elements that go into making a movie: writing, directing, cinematography, acting, costumes, special effects, locations, editing, etc. But what I feel is one of the most overlooked, and sometimes lacking, elements of a movie is the score. Sometimes the score is upstaged or even drowned out by popular songs inserted into the soundtrack. Take Watchman, for example, a film which had about forty minutes of composed music that never made it into the film, no doubt making room for ro…

This is something that has been on my mind you years. This generation of movies such as "Tranformers," "G.I Joe: Rise of Cobra," the "Star Wars" prequels, and many others today, rely heavily on computer animation instead of hard working effects that can look great and get the job done if done right. Sure, there are times where it is not possible to make some of the effects with a computer, I do not know anybody with an autobot or a Millennium Falcon, but when it is necessary, why not add some ar…

Back in the 1980’s, Hasbro was the leader in half-hour toy commercials disguised as cartoons. Those commercials were Transformers, GI Joe, and My Little Pony. Argue all you want, the bottom line with these shows was to sell toys. While I find that logic of marquee value a bit shameful, I found GI Joe more tolerable. Sure, it didn’t have the coolest to…

You know yer getting old when the places you went to as a kid have been torn down. A few years back I read a tiny little article in the local paper that said that the Coronet was closing down. For those of you who are San Francisco/ bay area impaired this will take some explaining.
The Coronet was built in the early 50's, It was one of the last huge single screen- non multiplex theatres in San Francisco and it was where I saw Star Wars for the first time in 1977.
I wasn't the only one. The Coron…

As some one who has Star Wars in his blood (or at least on my skin for life) I ask you to please not try to defend the series. "Jenga Fett" was my first reason to dislike your diatribe that is both four years out of date an unnecessary. Jenga being a great party game (especially when you have a couple beers tucked away) and Jango being the father of Boba. From here I'll just pick apart your blog with my reaction as one of the most die hard Star Wars freaks in the nation.
5) The Action,
The acti…

Here's my reasons why the prequels dont suck (theyre not as good as the originals by any stretch of the imagination)
5) the action
yes, it doesn't matter that much if it shouldn't be the main draw of the film in the first place, but still, the action sequences were pretty great. technically, the movies are all wonderful
4) The villains
Now, I know these can't compete with Darth Vader, but in my mind, theyre fucking close. Darth Maul is so awesome and General Grievous....i just love him. so muc…

I know, I know, you fanboys are all probably thinking the same thing, "Blasphemy!! Blasphemy!! How dare you say we need to reboot Star Wars!!! Crucify him!!!!" Hey, I'll be the first to say, I would've had the same reaction. The thing is, I would've had that reaction years ago, before the prequels, before the cartoons, before the marketing, before the universe expanded and essemtially changed Star Wars from what it was. Not only would I have had that reaction because it was Star Wars, but also b…

A little late to be sure, but I figured there's no better time than now. E3 2009 unveiled A LOT of great games to us and quite a few great trailers. I myself am a huge fan of trailers for games and movies since I find it an art form unto itself. With the right trailer, you can either build up just the right hype to make people curious enough to want the product or completely cement the fact your product will be awesome. Some trailers don't always work (especially when they tell you too much abou…

The title just says it all. These are movies I believe, be they good or bad, that are overrated. Everyone who reads this should know that I only hate two of these films, so it is not a hate rant, as much as it may sound. Of course this is nothing but my opinion, so just remember this is my list not yours. I can deal with critism, but not hate mail.
I hope you guys like my second list.

Are you ready for Star Wars to be cool again? I sure wasn't.

Now I'm not one of those people who loath the Star Wars prequels. They weren't great, but I still enjoyed them and had fun with them, despite all the things wrong with them. To be honest I didn't care about the story, I just wanted to see some bad ass jedi action.
But recently I saw a trailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic which is being made by Bioware(the guys responsible for Knights of the Old Republic). And after watching the trailer, I just have one thiing to say: George Lucas, you sir sh…
