The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Review

Rating-Full Price!!   Peter Jackson's The Lord Of The Rings trilogy is my second favorite trilogy ever (Sorry guys, but in my book Nolan's Batman is still number 1), so naturally I was skeptical when I heard that they were making The Hobbit into a trilogy. But I have to say that while An Unexpected Journey isn't even in the same ballpark as the LOTR trilogy, it is still really kickass.   The story is one of the stronger points of An Unexpected Journey. It is well…

Savages (2012) Review

Rating-(Low)Matinee'   Savages tells the story of a woman and her two boyfriends who run a successful drug business. The cops don't care, and their business really isn't that violent... that is until the Mexican drug cartel shows up and is like "you are going to come work for us, and if you say no we kill you." Naturally the two friends are like "No, fuck you." The cartel retaliates by kidnapping their girlfriend, now they must get her back.   So how did this film…

Resident Evil Damnation Review

Rating-Matinee'   Resident Evil Damnation takes place between Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, it's plot is that Leon Kennedy has been inserted to a fictional war torn country, there are two factions: The asshole government and the asshole rebels. He is to stop their usage of B.O.Ws (Bio-Weapons), why he didn't arrive with an army to stop this is never truly explained. Come to think of it, the plot itself, while well told and well written, contains numerous plot holes…

Lincoln (2012) Review

Rating-(High)Full Price!!   Stephen Spielberg's Lincoln stars Daniel Day Lewis as the beloved president during the dark days of the civil war. While countless men are dying on the battlefield, another war is being waged in the heart of Washington: The war to free slaves. The story is a gripping one, it…

Abraham Linclon: Vampire Hunter Review

Rating-Matinee'     Now this movie might sound like the stupidest movie in the world when you hear its story: Abraham Lincoln basically grabs an axe and decides to go out and kill vampires. But believe me when I say that once you get past its stupid premise, the movie becomes so much fun.…

Worst of 2012 in film #10-6

Rock of Ages, This Means War, A Thousands Words. What do these three films all have in common. They are on my list of the worst films of 2012.

The year overall has been pretty good I must say. However this isn't the blog where I took about the good. This is the blog where I talk about the shit of 2012.

I haven't seen all of the bad films of 2012 like Paranormal Activity 4 or One for the…

Gears of War 2 Mini Review

Gears of War 2, was the crown achievement in the Gears series. I thought this one had a good story and had those really holy crap moments even one heart felt one.  The story was about Marcus Fenix and the rest of Delta squad on another adventure to help destroy the Locust horde. This one was more about them pushing back the Locust to their underground fortress. This one gave the most info about the Locust and what they do to humans. I personally think that Gears 2 was the…

Assassin's Creed III: Running Historical Review

Background

I work at an American History museum, and Revolutionary history is probably my favorite era, with all of the complexity of decidedly controversial American issues, including the dichotomy of equality for some vs. equality for all, race, gender, symbolism, wealth disparity, and national narrative. When I saw the trailers and info on ACIII, I couldn’t wait to play the game. I bought it on Halloween night, and dove into it the next day. Here, I’ll be giving some of my thoughts on… Continue

New Images From 'Thor: The Dark World'

Not all set photos are created equal. Sure, it's nice to see a glimpse of the production design, and seeing an actor in costume hanging out at the craft services table is all well and good. But it's pics like today's batch from 'Thor: The Dark World' that really get us pumped. The new images from the set of Alan Taylor's…

The Dark Knight Rises Review

Four years of build-up can do quite a lot. It gets the people pumped to see what's going to happen next, it raises the expectations considerably since the team behind the film is taking their time and since it's the end, people desperately want to know the fate of all…
