The Avengers Review

When the Avengers truly assembled for the first time in San Diego two summers ago, Robert Downey, Jr. boldly stated that this film was "the most ambitious movie [he's] ever seen", even over the phenomenon that was Christopher Nolan's Inception. It has taken four years to develop the main…

Titanic 3D Review

What is arguably the most iconic Hollywood film of the modern era is back once again to rake in more money. But what is it that has made this film so massive in its impact? It's a movie about an event that almost no one living today ever experienced, it's a James Cameron film without nuclear weapons, Terminators,…

The Script Club: Episode 23: Revenge of the Ray J

One more dose of rebellion for good measure! This episode has it all, crazy government laser weapons, distressing news about the upcoming chimpocalypse and the consequences of the subsequent human Skynet launch. All that plus wacky news, our new statistician/intern's first real day at work and can someone please explain how we got trapped in an argument about Ray… Continue

Remakes and Sequels to classic films

This is my 1st blog ever so i thought I'd start off with something that has been bothering me recently and it would be nice to hear other people's thoughts on this.

So the other day we and friend went to see Rise of the planet of the apes (which far too long of a title for a movie, I feel tired just thinking about that…

PCP Episode 012: James Cameron

Prepare yourself for another episode of a bunch of lovable miscreants hopping on the nuts of some incredibly famous and talented dude. We decided we'd do a whole episode in ode to one of our favorite directors - James Cameron. We know a lot of you have beef with him but, you're probably just being prejudice. We here at PCP can look beyond Cameron being a Canadian. In fact, we love Canadians. They can make any declarative statement a question by just adding "eh" to… Continue

Trailers, Trailers, bloody Trailers...

So, last night I watched the excellent Sherlock Holmes (with the most obnoxious crowd ever btw, but that's a blog for another day). However I was reminded yet again during the course of the film of snippets from the the trailers for the film which led me to anticipate what was to come. That ruined certain scenes for me, but of course not the whole film.

Now maybe I am a genius and have the deductive skills of Mr.Holmes (which Isn't the case at all, I simply… Continue

James Cameron's Building Legacy

James Cameron has given us some of the most influential films of the 20th century. He has pressed his name into many roles: producer, director, writer, and even editor. All of his films seem to have a few commonalities among them. But, he definitely has a staple in Sci Fi films. He began his career in film in the late 70s and early 80's and gave us such works as Terminator (1984), Aliens (1986), and The Abyss (1989). His inspiration for… Continue

Top Ten Killers

Now, it's hard to classify what to call a "killer." One that kills, obviously. But some characters kill once but it's serious, some vow not to kill afterwords, some do it on accident. Some kill for good, some for evil. I hadn't a clue what to classify them as. So I'll explain for each one exactly why they're here. I had trouble, is the point. Without further ado, another list (it's been awhile):

10) Beatrix Kiddo, Kill Bill…

Terminator Salvation

The original Terminator along with it's sequel, Terminator 2: Judgement Day are prime examples of what a good sci-fi should be. Well-shot action sequences with great visuals and cgi, and most importantly well-developed characters who we care for, and a story that pulls you in and never let's go. I know alot of people dislike Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines but I thought it was okay. It was no where near as good as the first two, but it held my interest, had a few twists… Continue

During the promotion of his upcoming tv-series Human Target, Terminator 4 director McG also took the time to make some statements concerning the future of the terminator series. Terminator Salvation: Movie Review (SPOILERS)

"The unknown future rolls toward us. I face it, for the first time, with a sense of hope. Because if a machine, a Terminator, can learn the value of human life, maybe we can too."

Cyrus Remembers Fondly Arnold of the Past in the "Schwarzenegger Collection" DVD set

DVD is still here, still good, and there’s never been a better time to NOT be upgrading to the new tech. Why? Because the studios are dumping all their product out on DVD in inexpensive (comparatively) fashion and putting out all kinds of box sets totally worth your time. Exhibit A, for your perusal, I present the new Schwarzenegger DVD set from Lionsgate. As opposed to the last time they pooped out one of these, trying to get a… Continue
