Savages (2012) Review

Rating-(Low)Matinee'   Savages tells the story of a woman and her two boyfriends who run a successful drug business. The cops don't care, and their business really isn't that violent... that is until the Mexican drug cartel shows up and is like "you are going to come work for us, and if you say no we kill you." Naturally the two friends are like "No, fuck you." The cartel retaliates by kidnapping their girlfriend, now they must get her back.   So how did this film…

Watch A Full Scene From 'John Carter'

Full scenes from 'John Carter' now? We must really be closing in on that release date. The scene released today from Andrew Stanton's film isn't what I'd call Earth-shattering, but it does give us a hint as to the flavor of the film's action sequences. It shows John Carter (…

Cowboys and Aliens review...

Blending movie genres is an incredibly tricky endeavor. Movies like Back to the Future succeed by perfectly juggling genres like sci-fi, comedy, drama, romance, and adventure while giving the audience a cast of unforgettable characters. Cowboys and Aliens is no Back to the Future.

Transformers chase scene cut and paste from The Island.

Watsup spillios just ran accross this article apparently good ol Michael wants to make you pay twice from the same chase scene. This comes from a very attentive viewer (Cinefilo) who spotted the apperent cut and paste. The rumour is that the set was shut down on that day because a stunt woman got a line through there head, which forced him to reuse some stock stuff. Spoilers ahead nothing huge though.

Why The Star Wars Prequels Should Be Remade.

Last night I started a forum called "should the Star Wars prequels be remade." Naturally, because this site is awesome, it raised a heated, but civil argument. Most people said they believe that the prequels should never be remade. So I have decided to take you scene by scene, reason by reason why the prequels should not only be remade but things that…

Zombie Messiah Dating Update 12-1-09 = 0 - 2

I got some Zombie Messiah dating updates. 12-1-09 = 0 - 2

Asked girl out I was working on project for college class with about the imporatance of having a Social Phobia Group as part of the mental health system.

After I (and some dude manning the powerpoint) nailed the presentation while bringing her out of her shell a little by making her speack about some slides....

I was shot down after I asked her out after class....I went to my car, bit into a Japanese toothpick,… Continue

Garbage Cinematique: Fight you dogs!

What is this fascination with bad movies? Aside from finding them hilariously bad why do I spend so much time watching and drawing inspiration from bad movies, especially bad action movies? I have written a few comedic plays over the years and I have included fight scenes in them. I have training in stage combat both armed and unarmed. So why in the name of fruity pebbles would I want to emulate the bad movies I have compiled below?

I guess that bad fighting scenes have the audacity to be… Continue

My Hulk vs Wolverine Review - spoilers -

Hulk vs Wolverine is a pretty good movie, I'm not too familar with the comics as i'm pretty much a Animated Series guy.

I thought the animation was really good and the best thing is Wolverine gets to freaking stab people!

But that brings me to my first problem, so many times Hulk would get stabbed and sliced and then in the next scene all those cuts and blood will disappear as if they never… Continue

Great Scenes From Bad Films, Part 7: Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

I love the Friday the 13th films to an almost psychotic degree but even I will admit that most of them are not good films. Fun films to be sure, but not good films. I’m not entirely sure exactly why I like them so much, there’s just something about the silent, plodding killer that I love so much. That and the sheer stupidity of the characters he kills. Perhaps my favourite example of this is in one of the earlier films. I’m not exactly sure which but I think it might be number… Continue

Great Scenes From Bad Films, Part 6: Pumaman

Ok, I promise, tomorrow will not be a movie featured in MST3K. In fact, it’ll be a super awesome Halloween special edition of Great Scenes from Bad Films! Awesome. But Mari Nickl reminded of Pumaman and I just had to include it. It was another great Mike era episode and this film really deserved the MST3K treatment. Allow me to elaborate.

The film opens with a paragraph regaling us with the Aztec legend of a God descending from the heavens, fucking an Aztecette and fathering the… Continue

Great Scenes from Bad Films, Part 5: Hobgoblins.

As with yesterdays entry into the hallowed halls of shit cinema fame, this entry came to my attention through the stellar work of the crew at Mystery Science Theater 3000. This film was in what is possibly my favourite of the Mike era episodes, in fact it would probably be my favourite of all episodes if not for Manos. Everything about this episode is great, the riffs, the host segments with classics like Crow’s ‘In Search Of…’ style programme about women to the cardboard cut-outs of the crew… Continue

Great Scenes from Bad Films, Part 4: Manos: The Hands of Fate

Like most people out there who have seen Manos: The Hands of Fate (Translation: Hands: The Hands of Fate) I became aware of it through Mystery Science Theater 3000. The episode is held in high regard amongst the shows fans and rightly so. It is, after all, awesome. Some of my favourite riffs I heard in the shows history come from this episode, as do some of my favourite segments. Such a thing is only possible with the just the right film, and Manos is just such a film.

Every frame is… Continue

Great Scenes From Bad Films, Part 3: Jaws: The Revenge

Jaws is one of my favourite films of all time. It is awesome. Unfortunately sequels were made. Terrible, terrible sequels. Ok, 2 wasn’t so bad but 3 and 4 are awful. Jaws 4, aka Jaws: The Revenge, is easily one of the worst films of all time.

Martin Brody is dead. Ellen Brody visits her son, Michael, is working as a marine biologist… I think. It seems like an odd choice of employment for someone whose family has such a constant problem with sharks. His younger brother Sean is a cop… Continue

The Happening DVD review! (if you don't check out this post you will die in seven days!)

How many ways can I say brilliant? M. Knight does it again! After his smash hit with lady in the water I didn't think he could pull off another PERFECT film such as this one! This movie is about some sort of occurrence in which people stop dead in their tracks and start spouting beautifully artistic soliloquies before taking their own life, all against their own will. The film begins with one of these elegantly crafted sequences followed by a short educational scene, and then descends into… Continue
