Sneak Peek At Latest Pixar Short: 'The Blue Umbrella'

It's reached the point where I look forward to new Pixar shorts as much as their actual feature film to which the short is attached. This year, in front of 'Monsters University,' Pixar will be unveiling their latest short entitled 'The Blue Umbrella.' Thanks to the Wall Street Journal, we have a short sneak peek of what to expect. I love the way Pixar is constantly experimenting with…

The brand new trailer for Ridley Scott's "not-a-prequel" alien film 'Prometheus' is set to premiere on March 17th, and Fox is dead set to squeeze every last drop of marketing buzz out of it that they can. The latest volley in their ad campaign is this preview trailer which contains mostly shots we've already…

Preview: Red Tails

I have read and heard, in a few places now, that George Lucas has been working on Red Tails for awhile. But I only became aware of it a few months ago. Upon seeing the trailer, and gearing up for its launch on January 20th, I am extremely excited for this film. For quite a few reasons.

Many movies have been made about the “great generation,” and they usually receive accolades, Oscar talk, and have great meaning to people who remember the World War II era first or second-hand. But…

Green Lantern to be the loser of this summer (in quality terms)?

Green Lantern is opening very soon, but I was not the only one who noticed the lack of advanced reviews on RT... until today. At this point it's at 21%. Here's some perspective... Thor started at around 97% and fell to 77%. X-Men First Class started (and for a few days kept) at 100%, until it…

Premiering live last night on the MTV Movie Awards (in between waaaay too much Twilight), was a new sneak preview of J.J. Abram's new sci-fi creature feature 'Super 8'. When a government train derails outside a small Ohio town, strange things begin to happen. Catching a…

Oh yes, people Qbanknight is no more. My name is now HA-RA....

Yes, I decided to change my Spill name to a more appropriate podcasting name, so Ha-Ra it was after my last name. Anyways, my buddy A-Kwon and I have returned for a second run of podcasting, with first up our review of X-Men: First Class:

Preview: Age of Empires Online

What better way to kick off a blog than with a (p)review. A buddy of mine gave me the heads up that Age of Empires Online was in beta, so I decided to check it out. The NDA has lifted, but I’ve only had a little while to dive into it, plus the game isn’t finished yet, so this will be a sort of “first impressions” article.

Just a bit of background: I am a huge AoE fan from back in the 90s. Me and my peoples would spend ages having deathmatches, moreso with Age of Kings, and as…

This Year in Kung-Fu: 2011 (part 1)

Anyone who’s read my “Kung-Fu Revu” knows by now that my use of the term “kung-fu” is a little hyperbolic. I use it to refer to martial arts films from all over the world, as well as many other Asian action or suspense films. This represents my first batch of previews from this year. I'm tapering the list a bit more than I did last year. There's not really any point of telling you about Jija Yanin's 'Chocolate 2' or Jackie Chan's 'Drunken Master 1945' when they're little more than working…

TRON NIGHT review (SPOILERS)

I was fortunate to attend a screening of 20 + minutes of TRON: LEGACY. When I arrived an hour before the screening started, I was expecting to get crappy seats and end up at the end of the line. It turned out that me and my friend were first. After a while more people showed up but not a lot. After being metal detected, there were probly only 70 people in a 500 seater IMAX theatre. I expected the theatre to be full of people just excited for this movie as I was but it was empty. Apparently… Continue

This Year in Kung-Fu: 2010 (part 2)

Continued from This Year in Kung-Fu: 2010

Anyone who’s read my “Kung-Fu Revu” knows by now that my use of the term “kung-fu” is a little hyperbolic. I use it to refer to martial arts films from all over the world, as well as many other Asian action or suspense films. With that established, here are some of the “kung-fu” films that were omitted from the last list, either because I just found out about them, or… Continue
