The Master, Pitch Perfect--Double Whammy Edition: by Thadeus Brown
Today is a special day, for I get to review two movies in one edition. The Master, which has Oscar’s written all over the film for, best acting (Joaquin Phoenix), best supporting actor (Philip Seymour Hoffman), best screenplay, and finally best director (P.T. Anderson). I also have a comedy that has singing, dancing, and some Fat Amy in Pitch Perfect.

Philip Looks at Copycat Games
Hello Spill! Since I have no games to review (see Empty Wallet), I thought I’d just write about my views of two incidents that have popped up recently that do impact the gaming field. WARNING: Rather dry post, read on at your own Z Monster risk.
Firstly, there was…

The Ides of March Review
Not to say anything too bad about this movie but if anyone just wants to be emotionally drained and made into a cynic about everything political in an instant, then this is their movie this year! That's probably the nicest way I can put it when it comes to this movie because who knew that George Clooney could make a movie like this. Granted I haven't seen Good Night, and Good Luck but just from looking at this film, he's the kind of bold filmmaker that Hollywood needs more of. While…

50/50 Review
Trying to find humor in such a horrifying situation as having cancer or having someone that you love suffer with cancer is an incredibly tough thing to do but credit must be given to Seth Rogen, Jonathan Levine, Will Reiser and everyone else involved in the making of this film for pulling it off tremendously. This is a concept that could've gone horribly wrong if it was made in the wrong hands but the movie and the filmmakers know what they're attempting to do and therefore the story manages…

Moneyball Review
Brad Pitt sure has come a long way since his breakthrough role in Thelma & Louise! He's had to overcome the prejudices set against him and prove his real worth as an actor just because he was the "prettiest boy" in town and by doing so, he's managed to solidify himself as one of Hollywood's most iconic film actors in its history. While he's captured the eyes and hearts of women worldwide with his roles in Interview with the Vampire, Legends of the Fall,…

EXPORTING RAYMOND (Blu-Ray and DVD)
When it comes to judging the traditional, 22 minute, filmed in front of a studio audience, sit-com format, I'm a bit rusty. Talking about such programs seems like discussing the quality differentials…

Best First Films
To anyone who knows me well, there's nothing I enjoy more than being a film buff. If there is a film I enjoy, I research the hell out of it and learn all there is to know about it, as well as all those involved in it. Another thing is seeing more films by that filmmaker to see how they've grown throughout their careers. That can be a fun task in…
