Warm Bodies (or Romeo X Juliet with Zombies) – HM Movie Reviews

NOTE: I might do a current movie release review now and then, hopefully at least once a month or two but I might review a movie if it’s been a month, otherwise, it’s going into the (Hy)Lights pile.…

House at the end of the Street (2012) Review

Rating-F**K YOU!!!   Despite featuring the incredible acting talents of Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence, House at The end Of The Street is the clear cut definition of a dog shit horror film with horrendous acting and a dumb ass script. Why was this given a theatrical release…

I'm not sure how I missed that Universal was adapting Steven Grant's pulp comic '2 Guns' into a film, but I am excited. The film will be directed by Baltasar Kormakur ('Contraband') and stars…

Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief Review

Rating-(Low)Rental   Damn 20th Century Fox, can you possibly rip off Harry Potter any more? Speaking as someone who read the book, I will say the book is much, much better. Here they changed way too much, and not for the better. The basic plot is that one day Percy Jackson finds out that he is a demigod, he is being accused of stealing Zeus' fake ass lightning bolt and his mother his kidnapped by Hades. Now he must rescue his mom and find a way to clear his name.…

'Ben-Hur' Getting A Remake

Grease up those chariot wheels, boys and girls, because we're getting a 'Ben-Hur' remake...sort of. MGM, the studio that has already slated for remake somewhere in the neighborhood of XXVI of its catalog titles, has begun planning a new…

'Y: The Last Man' Lands Its Director

Last fall, we learned that the long-gestating 'Y: The Last Man' movie was bumped up to a priority over at New Line. The latest draft of the script, which the studio was totally jazzed about, was penned by …

Abraham Linclon: Vampire Hunter Review

Rating-Matinee'     Now this movie might sound like the stupidest movie in the world when you hear its story: Abraham Lincoln basically grabs an axe and decides to go out and kill vampires. But believe me when I say that once you get past its stupid premise, the movie becomes so much fun.…

Life of Pi Review

The biggest part of the magic of movies is its ability to transport us wherever it wants us to go as we willingly give up a couple of hours of our life to see worlds that none have experienced or seen before. 3-D is commonly used nowadays as a way to grab the audience and say that they can be that much closer to the…

Three for Three: The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Argo and Sinister Reviews

For once, the actual author of the story set out to make his version of the story on film the definitive one! Not only that but Chbosky manages to convince anyone that his version of the story and its characters in this film should be the only version to be made. It's one of those rare films that…

The Hunger Games (or Battle Royale with Cheese) – HM Movie Reviews

Okay, I wasn’t ready dreading seeing this movie but the hype around it makes it seem like it was going to be the next book series that translates into a movie franchise that has success both critically and financially. Harry Potter & The Lord of the Rings was one of the few that first did that well into the 2000s, however, many have tried to follow them and some of them…

Marvel Season one

So I've finally gotten around to reading some of Marvel Season one and I got to say, it's an interesting update of the origins. I was privileged enough to read both of the Team books: FF and X-men. I'm also now reading the first of the second wave Ant-man. The art in both the team books is very well done for a graphic novel, nothing mind blowing alex ross level but nothing horrid Rob Liefeld level(though from the first few pages of Ant-man, I'm cautious as it appears to look very cartoon…
