My fellow nerds and Spillions who give a crap, lend me your ears; it's time to realize the truth of this pitiful situation. As you may or may not be aware, graphic novels have become the popular alternative name for a comic book, and honestly I couldn't be more unimpressed at this shift. Do you really think that renaming a medium will make it any more appealing? I don't call video games synergistic novels, except for jesting, because you know what, they aren't!

*Remember, these are my opinions on the movie, not reality changing facts. Although these movies probably do have positives about them, I will not be addressing them, this is about there overlooked flaws. SPOILERS!!!*
On this edition of Overrated Movie Theater, I am taking a look at a film the has been called the masterpiece of comic book movies. Gaining prestige critically and financially, The Dark Knight has been called a dark analysis of disorder and chaos as well as an allegor… Continue
How many graphic novels can you name that would count as literature? There's Watchmen, naturally. And Maus, you can't forget that one! Oh, and The Dark Knight Returns... and eh... Persepolis... that would count too... hmmm. The high art of graphic novels sort of stops a… Continue
Just watch, it is hilarious:
This video made me laugh all the way through, nothing like speeding up your voice and wearing an elephant mask while performing ninja moves on a doll. Thats classy.
Also, he basically said in lesser words what I thought about the Watchmen. I read the Novel and thought it was really wonderful, the story was as rich as its characters. The movie obviously couldn't convey all of it, how could it, but it got the major points across as well as it could… Continue

Read a review once: Man goes to movie. Movie is Batman and Robin. Makes him depressed. Makes life seem harsh and cruel. Makes him feel alone in neon world where what lies ahead is bat-nipples and ice puns. Reviewer said “Treatment is simple. Great film Watchmen is in town tonight. Go and see it. That should pick you up.” Man looks confused. Says “But, reviewer… Who watches the Watchmen?” Bad joke. Everybody boo. Throw fruit on stage. Curtains.
I went into this film ready to hate it. I went ther… Continue
Well the wait is now finally over, the latest graphic novel film adaptation called Watchmen has finally arrive in theaters nationwide but the question is whether this movie is going to be the most accurate comic book movie that the producers have been hyping it up to be in this first edition of THE REVIEW VAULT (where I tell like it is good or bad). To be brutal and honest, Watchmen had so much potential to be a phenomenal film that in the end it became a film that you loved, hated, or both in t… Continue

So I figure since you all can't see what will be published, I thought I'll post what I wrote for the paper and post here on Spill for my review. So her… Continue

Joker is a original graphic novel written by Brian Azzarello (100 Bullets, Lex Luthor: Man of Steel) with art by frequent collaborator Lee Bermejo (Lex Luthor again and covers work on Daredevil and The Stand). Its a team that definitely has some great talent and brings with it some lofty expectations to be sure. Advanced reviews have been coming out comparing it with the classic Alan Moore story "The Killing Joke", not something to be thrown around lightly by most fans. With Heath… Continue
Anybody who listened to LEOG recently heard the group recommend various independent comic book series. One of these was “Invincible”, a title I had already become aware of when searching for any Robert Kirkman books (particularly “The Walking Dead”) on the Phoenix Public Library website b… Continue
Well, where to begin. Artemis Fowl has started out as a book that was written by an Irish author named Eoin Colfer, by the way his name is pronounced Owen, took me forever to get used to that.
These books are rather seperate from the Harry Potter books by JK Rowling. In fact over in Britain, people's nerves are beginning to get worn thin by Harry Potter, he has been around for almost 8 years now and is becoming very irritating. But this blog is not a rant about Harry Potter, (I don't think peopl… Continue
We all know that Heath Ledger basically kicked ass as the Joker, no question. Better than Jack Nicholson and his egotistical ass. Let's not forget Mr. Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark) himself who gave a fantastic performance, as well. These thoughts got me wondering: "Who has been perfectly cast as their graphic novel counter-part?" I then decided to pile together a list of my top ten favorite actors who portrayed characters in comic-book based movies (sans Dark Knight,Iron Man, and… Continue

In preparation for the next LEOG podcast discussing science fiction films I've decided on making a list of my top ten films in the genre. Before I go on, I must warn you my list follows the parameters of actual science fiction films. Not that stuf...
Now I loved Common's last album and was actually surprise at all the negative reviews and even some fans calling him a sell out which didn't make sense since he made the album for himself and it really didn't have any mainstream appeal but anyways...
