Last Year In Film: In The Name Of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

There are tales as old as time. Tales of bravery, of good versus evil, of kings and wizards. Then there are tales of people with plastic personalities, wearing plastic armour and fighting with plastic weapons against men in rubber suits who move as if there balls are always uncomfortably caught in their underwear. Uwe Boll’s In The Name Of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale is the latter.

I suppose I should begin by saying I’ve never played Dungeon Siege so I have no idea how faithful… Continue

Last Year In Film: Frost/Nixon

I am an all round geek. A jack of all geek trades and a master of none and one of the facets that makes up that geek whole is political geekery. I first started to become interested in politics around the time that George W. Bush came to power as the president of the United States and so my interest has always been with American politics, which is far, far more interesting than our rather underwhelming British system, and in particular the dark, shadier side of the political… Continue

Ask Carlyle: Why you won't see Let the Right One In at the Oscars this weekend

I did some reasearch and saw that LTROI is one of the best reviewed films (local and foreign) and it hasn't been nominated for golden globe or even the OSCARS?! WTF? What do you think happened?

Well, in short: It got screwed.

But really, here's the answer. The Oscars are queer - and by that I mean weird. They have strange rituals and rules about what can win and what can even be nominated. Stupid shit like Beowulf not being qualified for BEST ANIMATED because they… Continue

Harvey MILK Charity auction! (now with Spell check!)

Normally I'm not a fan of celebrity auctions and the like - but this is an interesting auction on what might be a little piece of history from one of the best films of the year for a good cause...during Oscar season. I can't find a reason that it's NOT newsworthy.

SHIRT, SUIT AND TIE WORN BY SEAN PENN AS HARVEY MILK IN BEST PICTURE ACADEMY AWARD NOMINEE MILK TO BE AUCTIONED OFF BY CLOTHES OFF OUR BACK FOUNDATION; PROCEEDS TO EQUALLY BENEFIT VARIETY – THE CHILDREN’S CHARITY AND THE… Continue

Heath Ledger Had Seen Six Minutes of 'The Dark Knight'. Ledger Also Nominated For Oscar

On the one year anniversary of his death, Heath Ledger was nominated for his role as the anarchical Joker in The Dark Knight. This isn't a surprise since almost everybody in the film industry had labeled his role as one of the best performances of 2008. Most likeley, he will win the Oscar which is well deserved.

Something was also revealed today while film makers remembered the diseased star. Heath Ledger had seen six minutes… Continue
