Tommy Top Five Unintentionally Disturbing Movies

So, while all the dudes will be flocking to see big robots go boom boom this week, most of their girlfriends will bring their tissue boxes for the new depressing chick flick My Sister's Keeper. For those who have seen the marketing can tell what this looks like: a heartwarming tale of a child afflicted with a fatal disease and how her family tries to live with it, becoming better people in the p… Continue

Twackius Review: Watchmen

Read a review once: Man goes to movie. Movie is Batman and Robin. Makes him depressed. Makes life seem harsh and cruel. Makes him feel alone in neon world where what lies ahead is bat-nipples and ice puns. Reviewer said “Treatment is simple. Great film Watchmen is in town tonight. Go and see it. That should pick you up.” Man looks confused. Says “But, reviewer… Who watches the Watchmen?” Bad joke. Everybody boo. Throw fruit on stage. Curtains. I went into this film ready to hate it. I went ther… Continue

Jason Rodriquez Watchmen Screenwriters Discuss Adapting the Novel

Photobucket Alex Tse wrote the final draft of the Watchmen screenplay, but he doesn't have as much to say about it as previous writer David Hayter. Perhaps he's just modest. Even so, Tse chimed in as Hayter discussed the long development to finally bring Watchmen… Continue

Jason Rodriquez 10 REASONS YOU SHOULD SEE WATCHMEN.

10) Weighing in at an arse-numbing 163 minutes long and featuring relentless close-up brutality in among scenes of near-rape, child murder and genocide – not to mention a supporting role for a outsized blue penis – Watchmen is unlikely to steal Slumdog Millionaire’s tagline of ‘The Feel-Good Movie Of The Year!’ But it’s searing, spectacular and simply unmissable. 9) It’s therefore a real shame Alan Moore is refusing to watch Zack Snyder’s adaptation of the twilight-of-the-superheroes classic he… Continue

MaxJayJay Finally Read Watchmen

I have never been such a huge geek. If I was, I would have read Alan Moore's most celebrated graphic novel, Watchmen a long long time ago. As much as I'm a huge movie geek, I'm not a big comic book geek and some comic book and graphic novel series were introduced through film adaptations like Sin City and 300. Thus I heard a lot of claims and recommendation everywhere, calling a graphic novel called Watchmen, the greatest graphic novel to be ever made. With all the fuss that every nerds around t… Continue

Twackius Great Scenes From Bad Films, Part 7: Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

I love the Friday the 13th films to an almost psychotic degree but even I will admit that most of them are not good films. Fun films to be sure, but not good films. I’m not entirely sure exactly why I like them so much, there’s just something about the silent, plodding killer that I love so much. That and the sheer stupidity of the characters he kills. Perhaps my favourite example of this is in one of the earlier films. I’m not exactly sure which but I think it might be number two. Whatever fil… Continue
