The Usual Suspects Review
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 89%
My rating: Better than Sex!
This is a film very dear to my heart. I am a huge Kevin Spacey fan, what with Seven, L.A. Confidential, and American Beauty amongst his legion of masturbatory aides they mistakenly call movies. Even in the bad f… Continue

Aliens in the Attic is a movie that entertains for maybe 30 minutes. After that time I think that it turns a little foolish, unreal and very childish. the movie tells the story of a very dysfunctional family that rent a house on the lake for their vacations, what they don't know is that the house is already habited by a group of aliens looking for a device to invade and conquer the Earth. The aliens can control the mind of adult people but not of teenagers and children, so it is the children of… Continue

Hey once again, this is Mr.Burn Notice bringing you an early review of the new animated movie from DC, Superman/Batman:Public Enemies. This movie is based on the graphic novel by the same title written by, everybody favorite writer, Jeph Loeb. Now before you get all down on this movie before we even start the review, the graphic novel isn't bad. But it isn't great either. It's really your opinion. But we aren't here to review the graphic novel, we are here to review...… Continue
Zack and Miri Make A Porno Review
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 65%
My rating: Rental.
Taking a departure from Kevin Smith’s View Askewniverse is Zack and Miri Make a Porno. This is not set in New Jersey, this is not taking part in the world of Jay and Silent Bob. This idea is refre… Continue

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back Review

My rating: Some Ol’ Bullshit!
We have arrived at the fifth View Askewniverse film, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. At the time, Smith declared this would be the last film featuring Jay and Bob and his last film set… Continue

Dogma Review
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 67%
My rating: Rental.
Kevin Smith's fourth film is set in motion by two banished angels, Loki (Matt Damon), the angel of death, and Bartleby (Ben Affleck), a Gregorian. After an eternity in Wisconsin, they've discovered a loophole in new Catholic doctrine that would… Continue

Chasing Amy Review
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 91%
My rating: Full Price!!
When asked my favourite Kevin Smith film I’m always undecided. Is it the realistically depicted, simple tale of twenty-something shop workers housing some of the best multi-tonal humour that is ‘Clerks’, or is it the softer, qui… Continue

El Loco Lobo's Videogame Review-O
How many of us are old enough (albeit unfortunate enough) to remember playing the movie-based superhero movies of the Super Nintendo? I recall my first Batman game, and possibly my first superhero game ever, to be the video game adaption of Batman Returns.
Jilted slightly by the side-scroller as I could never find a way out of various linear, forward-marching levels, I stayed out of the batman franchise for quite awhile until eventually rent… Continue

Thank the lord for a good Batman game. Finally, my dreams have come true.
This is, by far, the greatest comic book game ever made.
Forget about Spider-Man 2. Sure, it was great, but this game is leaps and bounds ahead of anything before it. The creativity in this game is so amazing and... okay, onto the first paragraph with the good stuff.
Batman: AA, is a beautiful, beautiful game. The textures are amazing, and no detail is spared in the amazing environments. What's amazing is that this game… Continue

Remember when parody film was a phrase that didn’t send people with half a brain cell recoiling in horror? A time when films like Airplane!, Spaceballs and Monty Python and the Holy Grail strode the comedy plains and delighted audiences far and wide. Do you know why those films were so awesome? Because the filmmakers had a modicum of respect for their audiences. Yes, the humour was sometimes wacky and out of left field but they didn’t have to take you by the hand and explain the jokes to you. Th… Continue

On August 20th, the stars of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett) did live riffing on Plan 9 From Outer Space at a theater in Tennessee. And I got to see it....
...at a theater in Minnesota.
Still, it was a fun evening. The show began with the three riffers taking on a newly found short, Flying Stewardesses. Naturally, because it's severely dated, it was ripe for heckling material. A running gag involved the guys slamming Fort Worth with them promptly apolog… Continue

This is something that has been on my mind you years. This generation of movies such as "Tranformers," "G.I Joe: Rise of Cobra," the "Star Wars" prequels, and many others today, rely heavily on computer animation instead of hard working effects that can look great and get the job done if done right. Sure, there are times where it is not possible to make some of the effects with a computer, I do not know anybody with an autobot or a Millennium Falcon, but when it is necessary, why not add some ar… Continue
I am an all round geek. A jack of all geek trades and a master of none and one of the facets that makes up that geek whole is political geekery. I first started to become interested in politics around the time that George W. Bush came to power as the president of the United States and so my interest has always been with American politics, which is far, far more interesting than our rather underwhelming British system, and in particular the dark, shadier side of the political scene.
It should be… Continue

A 3 hour and 26 min. movie that is filled with so much information that I thought I couldn't handle it. But yet it was something like no other.
JFK examines the events leading to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and alleged subsequent cover-up, through the eyes of former New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison (played by Kevin Costner). Garrison filed charges against N… Continue

There is a problem I have with film and the way people view it. It falls under the Oscars and award shows like it (mostly referring to the US). They never approach movies that are "different" from the "norm" when they pick films to nominate. Comic book movies (this was he first year, and it should have got more), most comedies, and animated movies… Continue
Hey there, everybody!
Well, I'm about to pull a Carlyle here and answer somebody's response in the form of a "blog post", instead of commenting back on the page of the original blog. Mainly this is because... I like to go on long with my responses sometimes, and they tend to take up a hell of a lot of space in general. Below, is the response I received from… Continue
ThaShining is an avid film watcher. ThaShining likes films!
ThaShining is a man who loves a good story, great characters, and great dialogue.
I also like long walks on the beach, a good conversation, and a nice meal but that's a different subject all together.
So being a fan of Film (I love you so much FIlm!), I thought it would be nice to share a list of "non-blockbuster" titles that just might be winners this year!
The first film we have is

Mall Cop tells the story of Paul Blart (Kevin James), a mall security guard. When the shopping mall is overtaken by a gang of organized crooks, it's up to the a mild-mannered security guard to save the day. The movie is flat and the plot is kinda predictable, you can know from the very beginning the the leading character, a dumb, overweight person will become the hero and will end with the hot girl of the movie. It has its funny moment, very few but funny anyway. The cast is good, Kevin James is… Continue
