Is The Traditional Action Movie Fading Away? Stallone Says Yes.

Sylvester Stallone is an interesting guy. He's responsible for both classic action film characters as well as much mocked schlock. When you watch him in something like, say, …

Anime Discovery (OVA Madness): Kite & Mezzo Forte

As I left off, many simultaneous explosions happen on my block and this had reminded me of not one, but two anime OVA that I have recently saw. There are most similarities between the shows but they have very small differences that could easily be the better part of this experiment.

The Anime Gods messaged me this, “Okay, your last…

The influence of Scream on Hollywood

It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly fifteen years since Wes Craven’s “Scream” hit theaters in 1996. While the slasher flick can easily be considered a Hollywood horror classic, it was released at a time when it seemed like the genre had little left to give audiences.…

Zombies: The genre that should truly stay dead....

In the past 20 years what advancements have there been in terms of depicting Zombies in movies and television shows? That's right, they can now run. Just imagine the literary goldmine you can explore with that new addition to to the Undead genre! Now, you may think I'm intentionally coming off as an ass to stroke my own ego, and you're right, but shut up for a moment and actually think about the Zombie genre over… Continue

Genre Films, with great unappreciated impact in modern filmmaking

We all hear the influence of Citizen Kane, The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, Gone With the Wind many times before

But what of Genre films; such as Sci-Fi, Horror, Fantasy, and Action

These films are usually dismissed by film snobs. But these simple genre films may actually give much impact then most people realize. Asides from the well-known ones Star Wars, LOTR, T-2, George Romero's Zombies films, The Matrix, I would like to write about films that are not well known, or films that… Continue

Oh What the hell?!?!?! A another Twilight rant...

Okay so as some of you probably know or can guess, I'm a big horror fan. Nevermind that I was born after most of the classics and haven't gotten the chance to see them yet. That matters not. The point is that I love the horror genre. The real horror. Not this bullcrap with The Messengers and jump-scares. I appreciate really truly terrifying horror. Stuff that makes you think, stuff that you laugh off at first and whimper under your blankey about later. In other words, the good stuff. So… Continue

Raise Your Standards!!

Let's face it; in our current economic situation there are very few things that there are to smile about. Cupcakes, Gremlins, porn maybe. But one of the few things that should make us smile are movies; but in the still very young year there have been about 90% mediocre to just flat out bullshit movies put out & we're already halfway through the year. I'll be the first to admit I was suffering from a disease that I know most of the people on the site were suffering from called D.K.S.(Dark… Continue

*Rant* Rise and Decline of the Horror Film Genre

(Note: Just to reiterate, this is just a rant, there are no flashy pictures or anything to hold your interests, I just had to say what I had to say as a movie watcher.)

What do I have to say about a genre I have all but given up watching movies from? The horror movie has been stripped of it's name, I am personally in favor of renaming it "bloody pulp" or "gibs galore". Where is the horror anymore? What kind of movie watching society have we devolved into that all we want in a "scary"… Continue

Movie Clichés I have to make fun of

Yes films have clichés but some have their charm or are just fun to poke fun at.

10. In kung fu films you can some how go long periods of time blocking every every single punch they throw at you and they block every single attack you do in complete strategic rythum and timing and yet complete shake it off.

9. In a horror movie it's always college students who are doing drugs, having sex, and swearing that get killed by the killer and the one and only good looking virgin… Continue
